You’ve watched the trailer more times than you’d like to admit, and you haven’t looked at a wicker basket quite the same since, and now it’s finally time to enjoy one of the most wonderfully weird romantic drama we’ve seen in years: Wicker.
The new film follows an ostracized fisherwoman who becomes the talk of her village when she commissions the basketmaker to weave her a husband. The basketmaker fulfills that commission with a wicker creation that turns heads for many reasons and ignites a jealousy within the men and women of the village.
It’s an incredible film that features an equally incredible cast filled with stars who have lent their talents to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Olivia Colman (Secret Invasion), Richard E. Gamt (Loki), Elizabeth Debicki (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Vol. 3), and Peter Dinklage (Avengers: Infinity War), as well as the amazing Alexander Skarsgård in the title role as our Wicker man.
If you've made it to this particular post, odds are you're currently in the theater getting ready to enjoy Wicker or just finished enjoying it or preparing to head out to watch the film and wondering if it pulls inspiration from the MCU by serving up some bonus footage once the film fades to black. So is there a reason to stick around, or can you safely leave the theater after the closing scene of the film?
There is no Wicker post-credits scene
Having seen the film in theaters during its opening weekend, I can confirm that there is no bonus footage to enjoy after Wicker comes to an end. Once the final scene unfolds, the credits begin to roll, and they roll without interruption. Once the credits finally wrap, the screen simply goes black, and the lights come up in the theater with no bonus footage to enjoy or even an audio stinger, as some films have deployed in recent years.
Given the perfect ending to the film, no spoilers here, don't worry; it's not shocking that there was no bonus footage after Wicker. That said, it certainly is disappointing that there was no bonus content, as we'd have loved if there was some behind-the-scenes footage or bloopers gifted to us during the credits, something many films have opted for as a way to keep fans around through the credits.
So once you watch that final scene and the credits begin, know that you're good to exit the theater without having to worry about missing out on any fun bonuses. That's not to say it's not worth sticking around to watch the credits, as the credit sequence is visually appealing, and it's always nice to stick around to appreciate all the work that goes into creating a film such as Wicker.
