Elizabeth Olsen did in fact make a cameo in the final episodes of Agatha All Along, just not in the way fans expected.

Heading into the final episodes of Agatha All Along, there were a lot of things fans were hoping to see including a return of Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch.

Given Agatha All Along is a spinoff of WandaVision and features the son of Wanda Maximoff, it’s understandable that fans had high hopes that the project would make Olsen’s return to the MCU.

Throughout the show, the creative team behind Agatha All Along made references to Wanda and the Scarlet Witch with plenty of easter eggs dropped across the season. For this reason, many fans were convinced that Olsen would make an appearance before the season ended be it directly in the episode or in a post-credits scene teasing the character’s return.

In the two-part finale event, Olsen did actually make a cameo… however, the cameo didn’t exactly play out in the way fans expected.

Warning: Agatha All Along finale spoilers ahead.

Elizabeth Olsen Agatha All Along cameo explained

Let’s make it clear, Elizabeth Olsen does not make an on-screen appearance in Agatha All Along, but she does make an unexpected cameo in the two-part finale event in a fun and unexpected way.

In the first episode of the two-part finale, “Follow Me My Friend / To Glory at the End,” we reach the end of the Witches’ Road and Billy is finally forced to face the thing he wants most: to find his brother Tommy. During the final trial, Agatha tells Billy he can bring Tommy back by helping to give him new life in a new body. To do so, she tells him to close his eyes and focus on the last moment he remembers with Tommy.

Billy recounts the final moments of the hex Wanda place from the finale of WandaVision, and in revisiting the final memories of his time together with Tommy we get an unexpected cameo from both Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen as Tommy hears the voices of his parents in which they sad goodbye to their boys knowing that with the hex ending, the boys would cease to exist.

“Your mother and I are very proud of you both,” Billy hears Vision telling him, followed by the voice of Wanda telling him and Tommy, “Boys thanks for choosing me to be your mom,” which fans will recall was the heartbreaking final words Wanda said as she closed the door knowing she might never see her kids once the hex came down.

Interestingly, Billy then recalls the final words exchanged between Vision and Wanda as her hex ended with Vision telling Wanda, “We have said goodbye before, so it stands to reason,” and Wanda finishing the sentiment by telling him, “We’ll say hello again.”

We then move on to a major moment in the season as Billy places Tommy’s soul in the body of a boy about to drown, which leads to the sweet WandaVision cameo being overlooked but it was honestly a perfect way to sneak in a cameo from both Wanda and Vision without having the characters appear on-screen.

Sure we’d have loved to see the characters back, but this story was about Billy and Agatha. There will be a time for Wanda and Agatha to return to the MCU and we’ll be counting down the days until the moment happens. But getting to hear the emotional callbacks to the WandaVision finale was a perfect way to sneak in an unexpected cameo in a fitting and perfect way.
