Sometimes you just don’t have the time to read a bunch of articles about the important news from the newest comic book releases. For example, in Supergirl No. 12, Kara Zor-El was given cybernetic enhancement in order to survive in Kandor, and John Stewart defeated Parallax in Green Lanterns No. 15.

The Iron who?
- Iron Man No. 4
- Writer: Joshua Williamson
- Pencillers: Jan Bazaldua and Carmen Carnero
- Inker: Jan Bazaldua and Carmen Carnero
- Colorist: Nolan Woodard
Tony Stark and his potential protégé (Adam Ware) are escaping Madame Masque’s stolen Helicarrier with the other kidnapped geniuses. Sadly, Adam is killed by one of Masque’s employees, Bert Ebersol (aka, Fixer), who is now calling himself Advanced Iron Man. I’m guessing the name and black and yellow color scheme are because he works for Advanced Idea Mechanics (A.I.M.).
An overprotective father
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles No. 17
- Writer: Gene Luen Yang
- Artists: Fero Peniche and Freddie E. Williams II
- Colors: Andrew Dalhouse and Luis Antonio Delgado
Splinter’s fear has grown so intense that it has taken over a giant Japanese mythological creature called Gashadokuro. And there’s only one thing that can save the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from their overprotective and possessed father, and that’s the part of his soul he lost in the afterlife. What’s weirder is that it’s manifested as a teenager.
Round 2
- Knull No. 4
- Writers: Al Ewing and Tom Waltz
- Artist: Juanan Ramirez
- Colors: Erick Arciniega
The last time Thanos and Knull fought, the Mad Titan was defeated, and it wasn’t pretty. It looked like the former King in Black performed a Mortal Kombat fatality. Now, it’s time for their second fight, and both competitors have gotten an upgrade. But with the Queen in Black event coming, it's doubtful that Thanos will come out victorious.

The return of Black Manta
- Emperor Aquaman No. 16
- Writer: Jeremy Allen
- Artist: John Timms
- Colors: Rex Lokus
Mera’s mother (Lolana Merana Challa) was defeated by Aquaman and retreated before she could be captured or worse. But that won’t stop her from attempting to get revenge. At the end of the issue, she goes to the one person who hates Arthur Curry more than her. Brace yourself; Black Manta is back.
Death of Romulus
- Wolverine No. 18 creative team
- Writer: Saladin Ahmed
- Artist: Martín Cóccolo
- Colors: Jesus Aburtov
Romulus has been Wolverine’s worst enemy since Logan was a child named James, and no one knew what a mutant was. Now, while being possessed by Adamantine, Hercules kills Romulus and leaves him with his guts hanging out. Then, Logan and the Prince of Power have a fight that could end up being the best of the year.
A wild J. Jonah Jameson appears
- Black Cat No. 9
- Writer: G. Willow Wilson
- Artists: Andrés Genolet and Gleb Melnikov
- Colors: Rachelle Rosenberg
If you gave me a dozen guesses on which Spider-Man character would show up in the Negative Zone, I would have guessed Paul or Aunt May before J. Jonah Jameson. Not only was this surprising, but G. Willow Wilson putting Jonah at the end means she has something incredible planned for issue No. 10.
Planning to kill Carnage
- Amazing Spider-Man No. 26
- Writer: Joe Kelly
- Artist: Francesco Manna
- Penciler: Ed McGuinness
- Colors: Marcio Menyz
Throughout Amazing Spider-Man No. 26, Torment noted everything that Carnage did. At first, it seemed like Torment was just telling Carnage to stop talking so he could concentrate. Later, Torment starts mentioning that he sees the symbiote’s weaknesses. To this writer, all of this sounds like Torment doesn’t plan on making this a permanent relationship.
