Superhero fans worldwide have recently explored the twisted, violent, and strangely funny streets of Gotham City thanks to LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. The Caped Crusader's best moments were all compiled into a single video game that re-explores what made the character so special in the first place. But now that TT Games' latest title has come and gone, it's time to look at what lies ahead.

A major DLC titled "Mayhem Mode" is coming to LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight on September 18, 2026. But that may not be the only new piece of content that video game players are bound to play. According to LEGO Games News, TT Games is working on a new game crafted in Unreal Engine 5 based on "a Major Warner Bros. IP."

Furthermore, the source believes it will be a DC property. So now that Batman has had his chance to shine, the question is: What other hero will steal the spotlight? Well, there is one big candidate who has been sidelined in the video game world for way too long now.

Fans believe a LEGO Superman or a LEGO Justice League game could come our way

After it was reported that a new LEGO DC video game could be in the works, fans started to theorize that Superman could also get the "Legacy" treatment. After all, not only is he one of DC's greatest characters, but he's been notoriously absent from the video game world.

Granted, video game players have taken control of the Man of Steel in titles like Injustice: Gods Among Us. Furthermore, he was one of the main antagonists in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. However, we've yet to live the fantasy of flying through the streets of Metropolis and making use of Clark Kent's full kit of abilities. Part of the problem is that a Superman game is incredibly hard to crack. How could you make him powerful enough to respect the character but also create enough opportunities for players to be challenged?

Should Superman be able to die in a video game? Could he simply defeat enemies with one punch? Can he fly through buildings if he's fast enough, destroying Metropolis in the process? There are a lot of variables to take into account when creating a realistic Superman game. However, all of those problems could go away if we're talking about a LEGO title.

If the enemies defeat you, Clark could simply disassemble into smaller bricks, and no one would bat an eye. Furthermore, his abilities could be slightly toned down to fit the logic of a LEGO video game. Clark could throw cars at his enemies, and developers wouldn't need to create a complex particle system to represent an explosion. Instead, we could simply see more LEGO bricks after the impact.

Video game players could also re-experience some of Superman's most iconic moments across TV, movies, and comic books in an upcoming LEGO title, much like what happened with Batman. If the formula works, why not replicate it with yet another iconic superhero?

Another possibility is that TT Games has taken it upon itself to create a Justice League video game. After all, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight already has seven different playable characters, each with their own unique gadgets and abilities. So it is definitely possible to reduce the number of playable characters while making them even more distinct in terms of gameplay mechanics. Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, and the Flash could all take over the spotlight in a third-person action-adventure game—a feat that hasn't happened before.

Unfortunately, it is very unlikely that we'll see TT Games' upcoming project any time soon, given that LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has just been released. But with a bit of luck, the wait will prove to be worth it.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
