Back in 2017, superhero fans were introduced to the villainous Mac Gargan during the events of Spider-Man: Homecoming, where the post-credits scene set him up to become a recurring problem for the wall-crawler in years to come. However, fast-forward nearly a decade, and the Scorpion hasn't had a chance to steal the spotlight in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet. Fortunately, that's soon to change.
Everyone's favorite friendly neighborhood hero will face no shortage of criminals in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Some are obscure characters that few comic book fans know. Others are popular bad guys that anyone would be sure to recognize in a heartbeat, and Scorpion is part of this latter group. But despite being the very first antagonist confirmed to appear in the movie, we hadn't had the chance to see him in his iconic green costume... until now. Watch out, Spider, because a predator is coming.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day promotional material showcases Scorpion in his suit
Merch store Pictas uploaded artwork to promote its upcoming wave of Spider-Man: Brand New Day products. While the image was quickly taken down, it remained up long enough for fans to get a good look at the wall-crawler, Boomerang, Tarantula, and Scorpion in his green, mechanical suit. The latter has a design similar to the one seen in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, though there are some key differences.
For starters, Scorpion's helmet is extremely barebones. It mimics Vulture's facemask but lacks any sort of personality. Unfortunately, there's nothing in it that indicates it belongs to Scorpion, and you could say the same for the suit as a whole (except the big, mechanical tail, of course). If anything, the whole thing looks more like the Green Goblin's costume in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Speaking of which, Mac Gargan now sports a full-body mechanical suit, unlike his counterpart in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, who only had a big chest piece.
Fortunately, the design for Boomerang does a better job of modernizing the character's costume while still retaining the iconic elements that fans have come to expect from him. The merch art also provides a small glimpse at Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, who isn't sporting the Professor Hulk glasses anymore. That detail alone could be seen as an indication that the Green Goliath will go back to his destructive ways.
A different leak also reveals Tombstone's look in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. In total, there are four villains confirmed to appear so far. We now have official looks for Scorpion, Tarantula, Boomerang, and Tombstone, but rumor has it that many more bad guys will wreak havoc in New York. The Hand could be the movie's main antagonist, while Ramrod and 8-Ball could also have a role to play. That would bring us to a staggering total of seven super-criminals for Spidey to face.
Many of these bad guys will reportedly appear in the opening montage of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will showcase what the wall-crawler has been up to since the end of No Way Home. With each passing battle, Peter will upgrade his suit, landing on the final design that he'll sport for the majority of the movie. Hopefully, it won't be long before we watch some of these bad guys in action courtesy of a trailer.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on Jul. 31, 2026.
