The previous episode of Prime Video’s Gen V saw the return of a fan-favorite character, Stan Edgar. A man with no powers, but who once had more control over the world and supes than Homelander. The heroes are lucky he showed up when he did with his granddaughter, Zoe Neuman. Without her, they would have been killed by Temu Thor.
While in Stan Edgar’s bunker, it’s put together that the burned person in Cipher’s home is Dr. Thomas Godolkin. If that’s true, Dr. Godolkin is the key to controlling all supes. Rather than stay and come up with a plan, Marie leaves in the middle of the night while everyone is sleeping. She plans to go after Cipher alone. Luckily, she won't have to.
Before Marie walks away, Cate says she thinks Marie can fix her powers. Marie doesn’t say anything and goes back to her journey. Cate follows her in hopes that she can help get Cipher and maybe get her mind-altering abilities back.

What to expect in Gen V season 2 episode 7
Penultimate episodes of almost all TV shows are always intense - especially when it comes to shows like Gen V. Knowing that Marie, Cate, and Polarity are going after Cipher is a clear sign that the trend of intensity will continue here. Even if they succeed in killing or subduing him, something else will undoubtedly happen to make things worse.
For one, Thomas Godolkin could be more dangerous than Cipher. We don’t know what he’ll do if he’s restored to full health or if Polarity's powers kill him in a moment of heroics.
Second of all, Sister Sage didn’t appear in episode 5 without a purpose. Everything she does is to benefit herself. As of now, we don’t know what that endgame is. We can assume it’s evil, but, for all we know, she could be working on Homelander’s downfall. Even then, she could be looking to kill the king, to become a more evil ruler.
