The penultimate episode of Gen V season 2 was everything you’d expect leading up to the finale. Marie got strong enough for her to heal Polarity and, later, Thomas Godolkin. However, after Thomas wakes up, we learn the truth. There was never a Cipher. Thomas has been controlling the guy posing as Cipher (Doug Brightbill) since 2014. Showrunner Michele Fazekas recently opened up about the twist, saying that, in many ways, it was obvious all along).

When Thomas Godolkin leaves his room for the first time, he encounters someone with a power he deems ridiculous. After learning this, Godolkin mind controls the student and forces him to choke himself. According to the trailer below, this is only the first of many supes that he’ll control, and likely force them to harm themselves.

If you're ready for the season finale, and all that awaits within it, here's when you can watch it in your area, and everything you need to know about it.

What to expect in Gen V season 2 episode 8

This isn’t just the end of the season of Gen V. Everything that happens here will directly affect things that occur in the final season of The Boys. But if this is like the other seasons of its parent series and the previous season of Gen V, the episode will end with something tragic.

Marie could be the key to stopping Homelander (who we know to be the big villain of The Boys Universe), but that doesn't mean that she will. The character could die, lose her abilities, or be imprisoned. And Marie isn’t the only person who could have a heartbreaking ending. Each of the main characters on this show is expendable. Not because they’re not important; but because they are. Each of their deaths could happen to get fans excited for the final season of The Boys. One thing is for certain.: If it's Emma who's killed, you can find me crying on my couch.

Lastly, we can finally learn what Sage has been up to. There was a reason that she set things in motion for Thomas Godolkin to regain his strength. Whatever that is will drastically affect The Boys. The question is how many people will get hurt or die for her to get what she wants. Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow to find out what that is.
