From creators Anthony Bourdain and Joel Rose comes an interesting and fantastical look at the future. According to IMDB, “LA controlled by elite chefs, a sushi master named Jiro gets embroiled in a vicious culinary conflict, seeking vengeance through his cooking skills amidst the cutthroat restaurant scene.” A look at the trailer shows that this is true, but an absolute understatement.
Chefs Bob and Rose appear to be more mob bosses than chefs. Like all people in charge of crime families, they're willing to kill their competition or innocent people in their way. Outside of them is Jiro, who seems to want nothing to do with their war. Sadly, staying out of their war isn't an option. It’s a good thing that Jiro can more than handle himself in a fight and understands that some people deserve to die.

It doesn’t look like viewers need to be fans of the Get Jiro! source material to get into this series. However, it would be wise to go into this with the understanding that it will be silly. For example, Jiro decapitated a man for putting soy sauce on his sushi (in Jiro’s defense, he did tell him not to). Nevertheless, this looks like a fun and violent series that anime fans and beyond will enjoy.
