Hawkeye has concluded its action-packed first season, but will it return for a second season next year?

Hawkeye had the unenviable task of following in the footsteps of not one, not two, not three but four critically-acclaimed Marvel shows.

The fifth and final small screen chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to premiere on Disney Plus in 2021, it followed Clint Barton as he found himself embroiled in a mystery that he thought had nothing to do with him, only to find out that it had everything to do with him.

Forced to wrap up the secrets of his dark past, Clint crosses paths with the youthful and fun Kate Bishop as she also finds herself at the center of the mystery, resulting in Hawkeye stepping up to protect her. But what he soon learns is that she is rather good at protecting herself as the pair embark on a journey of self-discovery and the MCU finds itself a brand new superhero.

Below, you’ll find all the up-to-date information you need about Hawkeye season 2, its premiere on Disney+, its cast, any trailers and more.

Is there going to be a Hawkeye season 2?

It has yet to be confirmed if Hawkeye will return for a second season. However, the trailer for the sixth episode of the first season billed it as the “season finale”, whereas some of the earlier MCU shows just used the term “finale”, meaning that there is a strong possibility that a second season could be on the way.

If it’s anything like Loki, the second season could be confirmed in the post-credits scene.

Whether there is a second season or not remains to be seen, but there is a spin-off titled Echo on the way.

Hawkeye season 2 release date

There is currently no release date for Hawkeye season 2 simply because a second season has yet to be confirmed. If it does go ahead, though, the earliest we can expect it is likely sometime in 2023.

Hawkeye season 2 cast

While we wait on that second season confirmation from Marvel Studios, we can discuss what the cast would potentially look like because there are only two cast members that would likely return in a series regular capacity, and that would be Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld.

Moreover, Linda Cardinelli would likely return as Laura Barton while Ben Sakamoto, Ava Russo, and Cade Woodward would likely reprise their respective roles as the pair’s children Cooper, Lila, and Nathaniel.

Hawkeye season 2 trailer

Much like the release date, there is no trailer for Hawkeye season 2 as the show has yet to be renewed for a second season. Even if it is, filming would need to take place on that second season to produce any kind of substantial trailer. Thus, we shouldn’t expect any kind of live-action footage until at least the end of 2022.

In the meantime, let’s revisit the festive first trailer for the debut season.

Hawkeye season 2 synopsis: What is it about?

The plot of Hawkeye‘s potential second season has not been revealed, but if the show is renewed, it would likely involve Clint Barton and Kate Bishop teaming up again. It might sound similar in theory, but the fact that Kate is now an established hero (as well as the fact that the pair are a heroic duo now) would be enough of a dynamic shift to warrant a sophomore outing.

On the other hand, it might just focus on Clint. If Kate does find her way to that long-rumored Young Avengers project, a second season of Hawkeye might just be one last stand for Marvel’s original archer.
