DC is about to start a brand new era that spans live-action movies, animated TV series, and even video games. Creature Commandos kicked-started an interconnected universe of stories set to be developed across different media, and the next step in that highly ambitious plan is Superman. The Man of Steel will be back on the big screen in a protagonistic role after almost half a decade since the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League. However, if we're talking about theatrical premieres, the wait has been even longer. Needless to say, expectations are at an all-time high to see Clark Kent fly... at an all-time high.
The trailers released for Superman have made it clear the movie won't shy away from the bigger DC universe. Big characters such as Guy Gardner's Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and Mister Terrific are set to make an appearance. As if that wasn't enough, Clark will get to face multiple villains aside from Lex Luthor, including Ultraman and Metamorpho. The movie isn't holding back from what we've seen so far, and that's without accounting for the major surprises intended to be saved for the release. However, it seems one of those "shocking" moments made its way online sooner than expected, and it was all thanks to HBO Max.

Milly Alcock will debut as Supergirl on Superman according to HBO Max casting
It's a bird... It's a Plane... It's... A major spoiler? It definitely looks like it.
A new Superman cast listing posted on HBO Max has revealed that Milly Alcock will be a part of the movie. The House of the Dragon star was cast as Supergirl in the new rebooted DC Universe and was expected to make her debut in her own stand-alone project in 2026, courtesy of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. However, fans were quick to speculate that we could see her even sooner (especially with her cousin flying onto the big screen this Summer), and now it's been confirmed. The only question remaining is: How will she fit into the narrative?
Superman is a movie that will feature many different characters, perhaps even risking getting a bit overcrowded. Lex Luthor, Rick Flag Sr, Jimmy Olsen, and even a completely original villain in the form of the Hammer of Boravia will all be there. Now, it seems like we have to add Supergirl to that list... or do we? See, fans have speculated that Kara Zor-El has been hiding in plain sight all along. DC could be trying to pull an "Arkham Knight" yet again by tricking us into believing that they've created a "completely new" antagonist for an adaptation, only for it to be an established character in disguise.
Yes, the internet is convinced that the Hammer of Boravia is really Supergirl.
But why would the iconic heroes be facing each other? Well, Lex Luthor might've realized that only a Kryptonian is powerful enough to defeat another Kryptonian, so he could've brainwashed Kara Zor-El into fighting her cousin. But is there any evidence behind the theory? Well, the Hammer of Boravia has Heat Vision similar to that of the Kryptonians, which could be enough of a hint. With that in mind, Kara's role in Superman could directly set up the events of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, as well as establish her character in the greater DCU. Besides, it would also make for an amazing action sequence that doesn't pull any punches.
Only time will tell what Supergirl's role will be in Superman. However, one thing's for certain: She'll be in the upcoming DC movie, and we couldn't be any more excited to see her fly higher than ever before.
Superman will be released on July 11, 2025.
