Hit Marvel show quietly renewed with filming on season 2 slated to begin in 2025

Since the launch of Disney+ in 2019, there have been 10 live-action Marvel shows to arrive on the platform; however, only one show to date has been officially renewed by Marvel Studios. However, it seems that list could soon be growing as it appears Marvel has handed out a renewal to Hawkeye.
That’s right, it seems our favorite Marvel archers are about to return to the MCU for another adventure.
While Marvel has yet to formally announce the show’s renewal, Marvel insider Daniel Richtman is reporting a second season of Hawkeye has been ordered. Not only is another season coming but it seems Marvel is planning on beginning filming in late 2025 with a rumored release window of Fall 2026 or sometime in 2027.
News of Hawkeye’s renewal comes on the heels of Marvel Studios’ release of the show’s first season on 4K Ultra HD Steelbook, which offered up a major hint that another season was in the works. When releasing the news, the key art for the physical release did not bill the collection as the complete series which hinted Marvel was considering bringing the show back and it seems that will be the case.
Hawkeye season 2 expected to put a bigger focus on Kate Bishop
In bringing Hawkeye back for another season, it seems the plan might be to shift the focus from Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton and give Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop a larger role in the season, which honestly makes sense.
Kate is being positioned for a larger role in the MCU and is primed to play a key role in Marvel’s Young Avengers project, Champions. So it would be a natural direction for the show’s second season to put a bigger role on Kate and her journey in the MCU, with Clint playing more of a supporting role.
That said, we definitely hope to see Clint back in the MCU, and season 1 did end with a bit of a cliffhanger with the tease of his wife, Laura, perhaps being Mockingbird so it would be fun to see that storyline finally explored.
Plus with Wilson Fisk about to return to the MCU in a larger capacity in Daredevil: Born Again, it would be interesting to see if perhaps Marvel could come up with a way to connect Hawkeye with Daredevil: Born Again, and feature some crossover with the characters. After all, if season 2 does keep the action in New York City, it only seems natural Kate or Clint might cross paths with Fisk or even Matt Murdock.
It’ll be interesting to see what a second season of Hawkeye might look like, but after the surprise hit that season 1 was, we can’t wait to see what Marvel might be planning and are excited to see what the next chapter could hold.
