The Game of Thrones universe is extremely unpredictable, yet there are always a few things that remain the same. Dragons will always be weapons of mass destruction, a certain level of incest will always be featured, and there is always a war waging for the Iron Throne. Now, thanks to the third season of House of the Dragon, audiences worldwide are witnessing the Dance of the Dragons civil war, with the Greens and the Blacks in direct opposition to rule the kingdom.
This epic tale started with the highly anticipated Battle of the Gullet, a major confrontation featuring many dragons, the return of the Triarchy, and the shocking death of Jacaerys Velaryon. However, audiences barely had any time to catch their breath, as episode 2 is finally here, and episode 3 is just around the corner. So, now is the perfect time to look at what lies ahead and break down when the next chapter in this tale will be released.
House of the Dragon season 3 episode 3 will be released next week
House of the Dragon season 3 episode 3 will arrive on HBO and HBO Max on Sunday, July 5, at 9 pm ET, 6 pm PT, 7 pm MT, and 8 pm CT. The title of the episode hasn't been revealed just yet in an attempt to prevent spoilers. Furthermore, its runtime also remains a secret, although it's likely that it will be slightly shorter than the premiere episode "Salt and Sea, Fire and Blood", which clocked in at 72 minutes. Episode 3's length could be more in line with episode 2's runtime of 68 minutes.
It has been reported that House of the Dragon season 2 was originally intended to be 10 episodes long, but HBO decided to cut it down to only eight and move the remaining two to the third season. That's why the "big" season 2 finale didn't feature an explosive final battle to close things out, and audiences had to settle for watching a tease of the confrontation that would play out in the future.

At long last, season 3 kicked things off with the Battle of the Gullet (originally intended to be part of season 2's conclusion), and it isn't far-fetched to assume that the second episode also featured plot points that were meant to be for the previous batch of episodes. If that were the case, then episode 3 would be the first completely original episode audiences would watch this year.
Given that House of the Dragon will only have four seasons, and that the Dance of the Dragons is in full swing now, audiences are about to witness a fast-paced tale that won't pull any punches. We'll see how Jacaerys's death keeps haunting Rhaenyra, and how the kingdom reacts to her sitting on the Iron Throne. Furthermore, it will be interesting to see if Daemon's vision of the events of Game of
Thrones will affect the story in some way.
Of course, fans who have read George R. R. Martin's book series A Song of Ice and Fire already have an idea of what to expect. Still, the live-action adaptations haven't shied away from departing from the source material (like the removal of Aegon and Viserys from the Battle of the Gullet). So the only way to find out how the war will unfold is to tune in for a new episode of House of the Dragon.
New episodes of House of the Dragon premiere every Sunday on HBO and HBO Max.
