The Game of Thrones universe can be difficult to keep up with. A lot of the characters in the HBO franchise have names that sound similar, like Rhaenyra and Rhaenys or Aemond and Aegon. While that can be confusing, the one part that isn’t is that the villains are easy to spot. In this case, we have Lord Ormund Hightower, who really came to the forefront in the previous episode of House of the Dragon season 3.
Yes, war in any genre and in real life is brutal and will leave everyone involved broken in some ways. The problem with Ormund is that he and his men have lost the war, but continue to fight. Again, war is tough, and sometimes giving up after a loss isn’t an option. Nevertheless, Ormund and his men have taken the homes of people and used this as an opportunity to abuse the innocent. Even his discipline of one of his men was more performative than genuine.
Even if you take issue with how Queen Rhaenyra does things, there’s no way you’re okay with how Lord Ormund Hightower does things. Hopefully, his reign of terror will end soon. But you’ll have to watch the show to find out.

What to expect in the next episode of House of the Dragon season 3
In the trailer above, you can see that the battles are back on in House of the Dragon season 3 and that Rhaenyra Targaryen is furious. If we’re being honest, who can blame her? She became queen of a poor and broken kingdom and is struggling to deal with the mess that was left for her. But if you’ve been paying attention to this series, or the franchise in general, you know that it isn’t wise to anger a Targaryen. That means that Lord Ormund Hightower's temper tantrum could be short-lived.
Tensions are continuing to run high in King's Landing, Westeros, and even further afield than that - which is honestly no surprise given the history (and future) of this realm! But with the halfway point of the show's penultimate season upon us, it's pretty clear that the Iron Throne is still somewhat up for grabs. Despite Rhaenyra and Daemon rightfully taking it back, those loyal to Aegon, Aemond, Alicent, and the Hightowers (or one of those particular camps) will stop at nothing to take down the Targaryens currently ruling at King's Landing.
The tension is mounting and the pressure is building, but by the time that House of the Dragon comes to an end next season, anyone could be sitting on that throne. It's all still to play for as season 3 rolls on.
