At long last, we can explore the dark, grim, and blocky streets of Gotham in a video game adaptation once more. Over 10 years have gone by since the release of Batman: Arkham Knight, and superhero fans have been eagerly waiting for another immersive title starring the Caped Crusader. Fortunately, that day is finally here, courtesy of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
Developer TT Games has created a beautiful rendition of Gotham City filled with life and shocking Easter eggs to discover. Furthermore, players are presented with a highly ambitious narrative that sees Bruce Wayne evolve throughout the years, going from a fearful kid to one of DC's greatest protectors. So if you have plans to play LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight throughout the weekend, will you be able to finish it? Or is more time needed to see everything that's in store? The answer is: It depends.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight can take anywhere between 12 and 35+ hours, depending on your playstyle
The main story of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is divided into six main chapters, as well as a prologue. Additionally, players are presented with the largest rendition of Gotham City in the video game world, and it is filled with countless side activities, such as AR challenges, tower activations, Riddler challenges, and more. With that in mind, the completion time depends on whether you decide to simply finish the main story, attempt to 100% complete the game and its sidequests, or try to fall somewhere in between.
For reference, I personally clocked in exactly 17 hours and 11 minutes in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. During my time with the game, I finished the main campaign, looked for multiple Easter eggs and secrets, and played through several side quests and secondary missions. Still, I have only completed 59.54% of the title.
Yes, TT Games has developed a massive adventure.
Here's a full breakdown of how much time it should approximately take you to complete LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight based on your playstyle.
- Main story alone: 12 to 14 hours.
- A mix between the main story and the secondary missions: 17 to 25 hours.
- Completionist: 35 hours and over.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has 100 unlockable costumes, 30 different Batmobile skins, 121 Riddler/Puzzlemaster puzzles, 200 hidden Wayne Tech caches, 170 destructible trophies, 30 gold bricks for upgrades, and 23 red bricks for customization. Furthermore, it has a total of 22 missions scattered across six chapters and a prologue. So, if you want to uncover everything the game has to offer, it would take 35 hours at the very least, but it wouldn't be surprising if that time extends up to 50 hours.
It's also worth mentioning that you can replay the main story missions of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. That means there is a lot of replay value that could add some extra hours to that total playtime (especially if you are like me and missed just one Wayne cache in some missions).
Last, but certainly not least, the game's difficulty level can also have a big impact on the total playtime. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has three difficulties: Classic, Caped Crusader, and Dark Knight. More villains will appear on the latter, which will also add a bit of time to the total run.
In September 2026, owners of the Deluxe Edition of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will be jumping back into the game thanks to the release of a DLC featuring a new Mayhem Mode, which will allow us to play as the Joker and Harley Quinn. So even if you were to fully complete the game now, there's still more to look forward to over the upcoming months.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
