Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are set to bring about a star-studded end to the Multiverse Saga.

For Marvel Studios, Avengers: Doomsday is the goal that it has all been building towards. The Multiverse Saga has been laying the groundwork for a multiversal war, introducing new characters, concepts, and catastrophes as the battle for the fate of the multiverse is on the horizon.

As a result of that, we have really seen the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise dig into the Marvel archives to feature cameos and returns from characters all across the Marvel Universe. Yep, that includes films that aren't canon to the MCU itself, as Patrick Stewart returned as Professor Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Hugh Jackman brought Wolverine back in Deadpool and Wolverine, and Evan Peters played a fake version of Quicksilver in a WandaVision nod to the fact that he actually played a different version of that character in the X-Men movies.

We know that Avengers: Doomsday will feature more major cameos and returns as the film is set to bring back a number of major MCU heavy-hitters. But now, it seems like it will also feature the comebacks of various Marvel stars who weren't a part of the MCU, too.

X-Men stars rumored to appear in Avengers movies

Marvel insider Alex Perez always provides MCU fans with exciting teases from their monthly Q&As via The Cosmic Circus, and December's is no different. The scooper responded to a fan's question about potential appearances from the Fox franchise's X-Men roster in the upcoming Avengers movies, saying that Professor X and Beast "for sure are in it" while also adding that they heard that Channing Tatum's Gambit could be in it too.

All three would no doubt make exciting additions to the line-ups of appearances in Avengers: Doomsday and / or Avengers: Secret Wars but they also make sense from a story standpoint. All three have made appearances in the MCU franchise before via cameo or supporting roles, serving as some of the most significant connections to the X-Men franchise thus far. It would only be fitting that they return to see out the Multiverse Saga and pave the way for the beginning of the Mutants' Era.

As we mentioned earlier, Charles Xavier appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in a scene that saw fans go wild due to the fact that he finally had his X-Men: The Animated Series-accurate green suit and yellow chair. Kelsey Grammer's Beast made a cameo appearance in the post-credits scene from The Marvels, also adopting the character's comic-accurate look (complete with white labcoat!). And Channing Tatum brought a long-time "what if" to life in Deadpool and Wolverine, finally getting the chance to play Gambit after almost doing so in the Fox X-Men movie series.

With Marvel Studios officially preparing to welcome their own X-Men into the fold, it's only fitting that the end of the Multiverse Saga pay tribute to the original class of Mutants.

This trio would join a multitude of stars set to return for at least one of the Avengers movies, including Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Benedict Cumberbatch, Anthony Mackie, Tom Holland, the stars of Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and more.

We're not ready to see what's in store, but we're also very, very ready to see it unfold!
