The Marvel Cinematic Universe has had no shortage of iconic fights through its 16 years of history. Steve Rogers' battle against the Winter Soldier still lives rent-free in our minds, while audiences worldwide still remember the day Earth's Mightiest Heroes were divided into two teams that faced each other in the airport. Iron Man's attempt to contain Hulk in Avengers: Age of Ultron was nothing short of destructive, and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine tried to kill Deadpool more than once in one movie alone. There's a common pattern in all of these events, as they all feature a good guy battling another.

Sure, there are plenty of exciting fights between a hero and a villain in the MCU, but it will always be exciting when two characters who should be on the same side disagree and we get to see who gets the upper hand. Fortunately, it appears we'll have plenty more moments like this in the future. For starters, Avengers: Doomsday is heavily rumored to feature a battle between Earth's Mightiest Heroes and the X-Men. While that prospect is exciting in itself, it seems there will be yet another intriguing fight happening in the near future.

Thor and Hulk will reportedly fight once again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

According to insider MyTimeToShineHello, Thor will fight Hulk again in the MCU. At this point, the two fan-favorite characters already have a complicated track record, given that they faced each other during the first Avengers movie, Thor: Ragnarok, and recently in Marvel Zombies. While the report of a rematch is exciting in itself, it also prompts the question: What will happen for the two friends from work to battle it out, especially given that Bruce Banner is in full control of the Smart Hulk persona?

For quite some time now, multiple sources have claimed that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will mark the introduction of Savage Hulk on the big screen. For the time being, it remains unclear why Bruce will lose control, and a weapon of mass destruction will take its place. Fans initially speculated that Mr. Negative could be behind the transformation, but then it was reported that the iconic villain won't appear in the wall-crawler's upcoming adventure. The only real hint we've gotten so far is that Savage Hulk will be used as a diversion by another bad guy to keep Spidey and Punisher occupied.

Regardless of why the Green Goliath will lose control, it has been reported that his new arc will go beyond Brand New Day and into Avengers: Doomsday. Besides, a World War Hulk movie might be in the works at Marvel Studios. With that in mind, it's easy to see that there could be multiple instances in which Thor could intervene to attempt to put an end to the chaos. After all, he's one of the few MCU heroes who could stand on his own against the Hulk.

Given that Earth's Mightiest Heroes will be more worried about Doom reigning supreme over the Multiverse than dealing with the Gamma-radiated monster, they could simply decide to send him off to space, as it happened during the events of the Planet Hulk comic book storyline. Alternatively, they could try to send him to an empty universe so as not to be derivative of Thor: Ragnarok's storyline. Either way, such an event would put Hulk on a path to seek revenge against his former colleagues.

It's been a while since we saw Bruce Banner scared of his other side, and even more so since we've witnessed the iconic anti-hero actually wreak havoc in the MCU. Fans have tirelessly asked to watch the Hulk go back to his violent ways, so it's great to know that such a story might become a reality soon. Fortunately, we won't have to wait long to see if Savage Hulk does show up in the MCU or not, as Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on Jul. 31, 2026.
