Get ready for a The Walking Dead reunion on Invincible as one of the best actors from the saga joins the animated hit!

Season four of Invincible just dropped its first trailer, promising more of the bloody action fans have come to know and love. Set to hit on March 18, the series will be cranking up the action big time.

Now, Forbes has broken the exclusive news that season 4 will feature Danai Gurira, best known for playing fan-favorite warrior Michonne on The Walking Dead. Per the article, she voices the alien Universa, described as “an alien from outer-space whose home-world’s name, location and pretty much all other relevant information remains shrouded in mystery. The mighty extraterrestrial being, wielding her powerful Staff of Leadership, is on a quest to save her own planet, though this will lead her into direct conflict with Invincible and his friends.”

Of course, this marks a reunion between Gurira and her TWD co-star Steven Yeun, who voices Mark Grayson/Invincible. It’s amazing it’s taken so long to stage such a reunion, even though it looks like Universa will be first focusing on fighting Eve (Gillian Jacobs).

Gurira came to fame on TWD playing Michonne, a woman who survived the zombie apocalypse by becoming a Katanga-wielding warrior. The character was an instant favorite, including a romance with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). Guirrira reprised the role for the spin-off, The Ones Who Live.

For comic book fans, Gurira is loved for playing the Wakanda warrior Okoye in the MCU. That gives her more than enough cred to add to this already great series.

What’s coming on Invincible?

Adapting the comic by Robert Kirkman (who also wrote The Walking Dead), Invincible follows the path of Mark Grayson as he tries to become a hero. Season 3 saw Mark battling evil alternate reality versions of himself. A broken Mark now has to get ready for the ultimate threat of the Viltrumite Empire invading Earth.

That leads to Mark’s reunion with her father, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons), who had been sent to Earth to pave the way for the invasion. Omni-Man appears to have turned on his people, joining with Allen the Alien (Seth Rogen) to get back to Earth. Father and son will have to overcome their problems to face the Empire and their leader, Thragg (Lee Pace).

The show is known for some humor, but also brutal and bloody action that makes The Boys look like a Disney show. In short, it’s a perfect series for Gurira to join, and while her role may be small, it’s still cool to see her take on another comic book role.

Invincible season 4 premieres March 18 on Prime Video.
