Marvel recently surprised the world by announcing Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, a 4v4 tag team fighting video game featuring no shortage of iconic characters. Players will get to see their favorite heroes and villains face off across iconic landmarks to devastating results. But in a shocking twist of events, the Invincible franchise will get a similar gaming treatment, too, except in a much more violent fashion.
Xbox Games Showcase 2025 shone the spotlight on many exciting titles set to arrive in the upcoming months. Among them was Invincible VS — a violent, brutal, and fast-paced 3v3 tag fighting game developed by Skybound Entertainment and set in the Invincible universe. Its animation style immediately stands out, as it opts to recapture the visual identity of the Amazon Prime series while being just as violent. The best part? The game is set to feature a single-player story, too. It's nearly time to re-live Mark's fight against the Viltrumites in a whole new medium and with many exhilarating combos.
Our first look at Invincible VS is here
The reveal trailer of Skybound Entertainment's Invincible VS showcased Mark Grayson and Omni-Man battling it out while leaving a trail of destruction in their path. Other fan-favorites from the Invincible universe will also join them as playable characters, including Atom Eve, Bulletproof, and Thula. However, with the complete roster still waiting to be announced, we should expect more surprises to come as we get closer to the game's release.
Invincible VS will feature multiple game modes, including a single-player story, competitive and casual multiplayer, arcade, and training. The game was initially announced back on Apr. 15, 2024, when Skybound launched a campaign to fund its development. Just 15 days later, that same campaign was closed as it raised over $600 thousand. Needless to say, fans have been waiting for this day for a long time, and they aren't the only ones.
Invincible co-creator, Robert Kirkman, has expressed his excitement about Invincible VS:
"I have said this before, and I’ll say it again: this is the most excited I’ve been about anything involving Invincible. Invincible VS is crazy fun, fast, ferocious and dripping with the same over-the-top brutality that you’ll see in the comic book pages and on the show. It is a natural evolution of the franchise and it is everything that fans have been demanding for over a decade!"
Fortunately, it won't be long before we learn more about Invincible VS. With the game set to release next year, perhaps it can make a surprise appearance at Gamescom later this August or even the Game Awards in December. Furthermore, Game Informer got to try it for themselves and will be talking about its gameplay mechanics in the near future. The only thing I personally ask from Skybound Entertainment's upcoming title is that Omni-Man's ultimate move recreates that famous train scene from the first season of the Invincible animated series. If Mortal Kombat was able to feature that move, then there's no reason for Invincible VS to miss out on it.
Invincible VS will be released in 2026 on all major consoles.
