Don't be afraid, be terrified! Pennywise is officially making himself at home on the small screen as he takes center stage in IT: Welcome To Derry. The show, which airs on both HBO and HBO Max, is a prequel series to the iconic 2017 and 2018 IT movies, which are of course based on the Stephen King novel of the same name. And yes, Bill Skarsgård is back in the role that he gave everyone nightmares in.
The show just recently premiered on TV screens to positive reviews and intense fan reactions. It also performed well for both HBO and its streaming platform, ensuring that the fans of the record-breaking movies returned for its small screen spinoff.
All that being said, the third episode is certainly making an impression on viewers, but when can they expect the fourth episode? Let's explain that, as well as the reason why fans are a little confused about when and where they can anticipate the show's weekly releases.
IT: Welcome To Derry episode 4 comes out next Sunday as the show resumes its original release schedule
IT: Welcome To Derry episode 4 airs on HBO and streams on HBO Max on Sunday, November 16, at 9:00 p.m. ET, 6:00 p.m. PT, 7:00 p.m. CT, and 8:00 p.m. MT. Yes, that's next Sunday.
So, then, why are viewers a little perplexed about the show's release schedule and - more specifically - when to expect new episodes? Yep, there are some fans out there hoping to see new episodes released on Fridays - especially the third installment this week. Why is that? Well, it's only because HBO Max went and released the second installment a little earlier!
In honor of Halloween last weekend, the streaming service opted to make the most of spooky season and unveiled IT: Welcome To Derry episode 3 two days earlier for audiences to enjoy. This gave fans the oppprtunity to watch it a little earlier for Halloween or to wait for the show's typical linear release slot on Sunday (HBO still aired it in its usual timeslot).
But, it's not Halloween this week, meaning that the show has now reverted to its originally planned schedule, releasing new weekly episodes on both HBO and HBO Max on Sundays. This took effect once more with the third episode and it will remain in place next week for episode 4, as well as the remainder of the season.
