Season 2 of HBO Max’s Peacemaker picked up where the show left off with amazing content. The action has been as creative and brutal as expected, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. The acting has been the best part of the show. Chief among the best performers is Jennifer Holland, who plays Emilia Harcourt.

What makes it so special this time around is that she plays two different characters in the second season - more specifically, two different versions of Harcourt. We had the chance to speak with the star recently and, during the interview, Holland discussed various things about her character this season, particularly what it was like going back and forth between two Emilia Harcourts. She revealed that it was a joy to play them both, saying:

“They’re both extreme parts of my personality. So I was able to pull pieces of me into both of the characters.”

However, she does love Harcourt from "our" dimension better.

That led me to talk about the smile on Earth-1 Harcourt’s face after the bar fight in the season 2 premiere, and if we’ll see more of that from the alternate Emilia Harcourt. Sadly, she couldn’t answer the question. Instead, hesitation and laughter followed. That doesn’t mean there will or won’t be a moment like that. However, it should leave viewers anticipating what it means. Maybe the two are so different that the reactions are different. Or, they're more alike than we think.

When I asked which version of the character was more fun to play, Holland picked our dimension’s Emilia. “She’s way more fun to play. She’s so messed up, and such an interesting person.” She goes on to say something that was surprising. “She (Emilia) is the most human person that I’ve had the opportunity to play. We're all complex human beings, and she's one of those.”

" She’s got a lot of flaws, and she’s not just flaws, she’s all of the things all of us are."

Despite loving our universe’s Harcourt, she is having a good time as her counterpart. “I get to do this whole different side of her. This whole different interaction with Christopher Smith. And I had so much fun with Greg Mottola, who directed episodes 2 and 3.” Holland gives Greg Mottola a lot of praise for helping create the character since that was the first time she appeared.

As much as Jennifer Holland enjoys her roles, she mentions that there was almost a Harcourt that had to shave her head, and that she was happy that didn’t happen.
