Here are the returning and debuting characters we can confirm will be there amid the chaos and corruption of Gotham in Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2, which sounds like it will be bigger and crazier than the last.

Batman: Caped Crusader has not received a great deal of noise since its premiere season wrapped, but season 2 is on the way. As such, anticipation is building and more is coming to light, so it is becoming clearer what we can expect -- and who will show up to make life in Gotham City a living hell.

It shouldn't be hard to figure out that the coming agent of chaos is The Joker. Not only was he teased at the end of last season, performing experiments on innocent victims with his trademark gas, but The Jester of Genocide was always the yin to The Dark Knight's yang. Whenever the vigilante swings into action from out of the shadows, that ghastly grin wearing purple is never far behind.

Joker also has a solid chance of cackling his way to the top of Gotham's criminal food chain, but he has serious competition. Rupert Thorne (voiced by Cedric Yarbrough) sits on the throne of "King of the Underworld" -- much as he did last season and in earlier animated incarnations. He still controls everything in the city, including the police, and reports speculate that Thorne will pull strings to spring his prized agents from prison. One of them is Harvey Bullock (voiced by John DiMaggio), who shockingly broke bad in this timeline.

The other is Arnold Flass (voiced by Gary Anthony Williams), who gunned down a Harvey Dent (voiced by Diedrich Bader) trying to redeem himself at the end of season 1. His fate looked final, but Flass had better keep looking over his shoulder because there is always a one-in-two chance Dent survives to flip the coin another day. They don't flip themselves, and neither of his personalities tends to forget easily.

Lucius Fox (Bumper Robinson) is also expected to take on an integral role next season, although not in his usual capacities of tech specialist and corporate executive. He will remain a close confidant to Bruce Wayne (Hamish Linklater), but this time as an attorney and advisor.

Caped Crusader is executive produced by JJ Abrams, Bruce Timm, The Batman director Matt Reeves, writer Ed Brubaker, and Warner Bros. Animation President Sam Register. After huge pushes at events such as DC FanDome, it looked for a short time as if David Zaslav and the Discovery regime were going to shelve the series alongside Batgirl once they took over and made drastic cuts.

Fortunately, Zaslav and company allowed for the series to be shopped around, and Amazon Prime finally picked it up. It debuted on the streaming service in August 2024, meaning we are reaching a two-year gap between seasons. The second is expected to premiere later this year, possibly over the summer like the first, but that is only an educated guess.
