Yuji Itadori has become a fixture of so many people's lives over the course of the past few years - when the very first episode of Jujutsu Kaisen premiered on our screens back in 2020. Since then, the anime has gone from strength-to-strength. His most recent adventure (in the third season of the show) has been equally as gripping as fans of the anime have known to expect some trials and tribulations as he and his allies take on the Culling Game.
One of the manga's most exciting and yet nerve-wracking storylines, there has been a lot of anticipation to see it come to life in the TV series. It's delivered thus far, with a thrilling cliffhanger concluding its most recent episode. However, if you're expecting the next episode of Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 to arrive in its normal timeslot this week, we have some bad news.
Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 episode 8 is coming later than you think it is
Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 episode 8, titled "Tokyo No. 1 Colony, Part 2", is set to premiere on Thursday, February 26. Yes, that means there will be a week-long delay as the show won't be airing a new episode this week. It won't arrive on the MBS/TBS nationwide network in Japan and it won't stream on Crunchyroll around the world this week either. Instead, there will be a special recap designed to catch viewers up on what has happened this season thus far (which is also expected to feature some new footage).
This at least cushions the blow for fans who were hoping for the next installment of the series to maintain its expected release date. But it's also a blessing in disguise because Jujutsu Kaisen's recaps are notorious for their detail and fans often appreciate how they keep us all on the right track, catching us up on important events and perhaps hinting at storylines to come. And considering the storyline that the acclaimed anime series is telling right now, it's probably the right time for a recap.
The Culling Game Arc has been pretty edge-of-seat since it began. Although that has been the focus of the season, this batch of episodes kicked off with the Perfect Preparation Arc, showcasing Yuji and his best friend Megumi Fushiguro literally preparing for the game that is considered a game-changer in the manga that inspired the anime.

That's what makes this particular hiatus all the more frustrating for viewers as the Culling Game Arc officially commenced within the past few episodes, meaning that it was just getting going when the one-week break kicked in.
The previous episode saw Megumi and Yuji transported to different locations when they attempted to enter the Tokyo Colony No. 1 barrier, resulting in a dual arc playing out over the course of 20 minutes. While Yuji is forced to battle some cursed warriors, Megumi is met by a sorcerer who promises to lead him to a user with enough points to add rules to the Culling Game - which is exactly what both of them need. The only issue that someone also approaches Yuji with the same offer. And yet, the two are heading in completely different directions.
Needless to say, this cliffhanger ending makes the next episode all the more must-see (and the hiatus all the more upsetting!). At least we'll have the recap episode to keep us entertained as we count down the days to season 3's return!
