It's not been a smooth journey for Yuji Itadori. But then again, Jujutsu Kaisen is a show all about battling curses and demons so what did we really expect? And considering that the third season of the beloved anime is currently adapting the manga's Culling Game Arc, it's not all that surprising.
One thing it has been, however, is thoroughly compelling - as Yuji and Megumi took on the Colony Barrier and the potential dangers that awaited behind it in a bid to find players with over 100 points. It wasn't an easy task but it sure led to some interesting results.
All that being said, if you're ready and waiting to find out what happens in the next episode of JJK season 3, you might be disappointed to know that there will be a bit of a delay before it airs.
Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 episode 8 is delayed
Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 episode 8, likely titled "Tokyo No. 1 Colony, Part 2", will release on Thursday, February 21 in US and across the world (while airing in Japan on Friday, February 22). This means that the show will face a delay, not airing in its typical timeslot on Thursday, February 16 as fans had hoped.
This is an unfortunate update for sure, but it's one that has been planned for the show's release schedule since it was first announced ahead of the season - so it's not due to scheduling changes and just more down to the decision made by the anime's Japan network and / or Crunchyroll.
The show's official account on X, formerly Twitter, revealed the schedule as the season kicked off, confirming the one-week delay for episode 8. However, the good news is that fans won't be going away empty-handed next Thursday, as there will be a special Jujutsu Kaisen recap designed to catch fans up on the third season thus far, while also alluding to some new material.
If you've been watching Jujutsu Kaisen from the start, you'll know that the show often treats fans to specials and recaps, catching viewers up on major events, showcasing new angles and perspectives, and revealing some crucial new information along the way. And if this recap has been planned since the beginning of the season, that could very well make it one of the most important installments - if not a foreshadowing of the major episodes to come from the Culling Game Arc.
JJK has really kicked into gear over the past few episodes, transitioning out of the Perfect Preparation Arc and more directly into the Culling Game Arc - which we know is the centerpiece of the season. Yuji has been dealing with a lot as a result of that and the show simply hasn't slowed down since.
It's expected to take a longer hiatus after the twelfth episode completes the first cour of the season, but considering we've just kicked off the Culling Game Arc, something tells us that a lot will happen before that!
In the meantime, we're counting down the minutes until season 3 episode 8 - a.k.a. episode 55 - makes its presence felt!
