Justice League: Dream Girls ends with good news and a new leader, and Guy Gardner nonsense

Justice League: Dream Girls may have concluded, but this isn’t the end for Dreamer and Galaxy in DC Comics.

If you’ve been following my weekly must-read articles, you may have noticed that DC Comics' Justice League: Dream Girls has been on my list since it premiered. The mini-series has all of the action that you’d expect from a Justice League comic. But the part that makes this one of the best mini-series of 2026 is the depth

During my interview with writer Jadzia Axelrod, she explained why the topic of trans people attempting and committing suicide was an important part of her and Nicole Maines’ story. "Trans suicide, especially among young people, is frightfully high. Our society, sadly, is structured to contribute to that, to make trans people think that they have no place in the world.” This may be a fantasy story, but the subject matter is very true, and I’m happy to know that someone is speaking truth to power.

The series came to a close in issue No. 4, but, according to the text on the last page, it’s never the end. While some stories say this, I truly believe that it isn’t. Especially after the way things concluded.

After Dreamer and Galaxy leave the dream world, their friends and some of the members of the Justice League are standing around waiting to help Nia Nal (Dreamer) and Taylor Barzelay (Galaxy). What they didn’t know was that Nia and Taylor had already taken care of things. After that, Batman asks Galaxy to take a walk with him. Normally, this means a talking-to, but that wasn’t the case.

Batman apologized for the way Taylor was singled out and admitted that the Justice League acted in fear, saying, “I’ve seen bravery. And I’ve seen cowardice. I know the difference between your actions and ours today.” Bruce Wayne was so impressed that he told Taylor that he recommended her for a leadership role, which she accepted. Hopefully, that means a new DC Comics series starring Galaxy.

Soon after that, Jessica Cruz apologized for her actions towards her and left Galaxy with a warning that Guy Gardner and the Green Lantern Corps may come after her if she’s ever around Oa. With the confidence she’s earned, Galaxy shrugged her shoulders and said, “They’re welcome to try.” After reading Justice League: Intergalactic, I'm going to go on record by saying Guy might want to reconsider that.

Lastly, before the series ends, Taylor asks Nia if she’d reconsider joining the Justice League. She still says no because she needs time to work on herself. A very mature move that will hopefully lead to more appearances from Dreamer.

All of this leaves me optimistic for the future. I'm speaking into existence that DC Comics fans will see more of Dreamer and Galaxy in the future. Taylor is one of the new team leaders of the Justice League, and Nia said she’d be there when she’s needed. Plus, I’m hoping that Jon and Nia get together.
