Lanterns episode 3 release time (by time zone), preview, and what to expect

Episode 3 of HBO’s Lanterns should show what Sinestro knows about Lanterns, and also how John Stewart’s relationship with his parents made him the man viewers are seeing.

In the previous episode of Lanterns, John Stewart created a sentient construct after using the Lantern power ring and kept it alive long after Hal Jordan took the ring back. Accomplishing one of the two is impressive. Doing both is one of the most amazing things viewers have seen in Peter Safran and James Gunn’s DC Universe, and that says a lot. As great as John Stewart’s bird trick was, that was small potatoes compared to what viewers learned.

There’s a Manhunter in Nebraska, and that means there’s trouble coming - and not just from them. A group of aliens kidnapped John in the previous episode and told him that if he doesn’t find the Manhunters and contact them within 48 hours, they’ll blow up the town. Judging by the seriousness of the situation and the lengths they went to contact John Stewart, the alien race is deadly serious.

Yes, episode 2 of Lanterns showed that the hype for HBO’s newest show is all warranted. With that in mind, here's when you can watch episode 3 so you don’t miss what’s next.

What to expect in the next episode of Lanterns

Episode 2 of Lanterns concluded with Hal Jordan asking Sinestro about Manhunters, and we can only hope that the conversation is shown in length in the upcoming episodes. Fans of the show want to see what the former Green Lantern knows about the Manhunter, and comic book readers want to see what actor Ulrich Thomsen can do as Sinestro.

However, the third episode will also be offering up a different storyline, too. The preview above shows John Stewart as a kid with his father and his mother, Bernadette (played by Nicole Ari Parker). As expected, she doesn’t seem too happy with how John’s father has been raising their son. The upcoming episode should show how Bernadette and John Sr.'s relationship molded John into the adult that we're seeing. If this writer had to guess, it's likely why John Jr. doesn't drink alcohol and remains so disciplined.

It sounds like we're getting the origin story of John Stewart - and we can't wait to see that!
