Episode 3 of Lanterns was one of the best episodes of superhero TV fans have ever witnessed. It showed the origin of John Stewart, who was being trained to be "without fear" and one day become a Green Lantern. However, it came with emotional trauma from his mother and father, who left him scarred from all of the dangerous situations they put him in.
At the end of the episode, John passes the Guardian’s interview and becomes the next in line to be the Green Lantern. As he gets home to tell his parents the good news, however, he sees that Hal Jordan has already spoiled the surprise.
As anyone could have predicted, Hal was a jerk about the news to John after being kind to John’s parents. How will this play into the next episode? You’ll have to watch to find out.
Lanterns season 1 episode 4 release time
Lanterns season 1, episode 4 (titled “The Weenie”) is set to premiere in the US on Sunday, September 6, at 9:00 p.m. ET, 6:00 p.m. PT, 8:00 p.m. CT, and 7:00 p.m. MT on both HBO and HBO Max.
Now, HBO Max is a worldwide streaming platform. So in all locations where the service is available, fans of the DC Universe will be able to watch (including in the UK now, too!). What to expect in the next episode of Lanterns
The preview above shows us that the fourth episode of Lanterns will feature more of the conversation between Sinestro and Hal Jordan that happened at the end of episode 2. Shocking to no one, Sinestro’s answer to the John Stewart problem was to kill John. While it’s doubtful that Hal will attempt to do that, it will be interesting to see how he reacts to the advice and what else he told him. It's easy to guess that it won't be anything remotely positive or encouraging.
As for John, it’s going to be interesting to see how he deals with Hal giving him the Green Lantern ring, since it will be the first time he uses it for an extended period of time. Are viewers going to see him do more amazing things, or do something that makes him know fear? Furthermore, will there be more clues to how Hal dies in 2026?
