Ever since Spider-Man: Brand New Day started production, it's impossible not to feel like the superhero fantasy came to life and that the wall-crawler might live among us. Director Destin Daniel Cretton decided to shoot the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie on location in the streets of Glasgow, and fans can't help but smile whenever a new set picture is released.
Every new look showcases Tom Holland in what's perhaps the greatest Spider-Man suit ever made, recreating a pose that seems pulled straight from comic book pages. With that in mind, fan excitement is at an all-time high, and that's without the studio unveiling what the movie will be about.
Granted, we know that Scorpion will be one of the villains in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and that Marvel legends Jon Bernthal and Mark Ruffalo will reprise their roles as The Punisher and Hulk, respectively. But beyond that, the upcoming MCU project is surrounded in secrecy. We still don't know who the main antagonist is, what character Sadie Sink is portraying, or why the web-slinger will team up with two unlikely anti-heroes. But amidst all the uncertainty, a popular theory might've finally been confirmed thanks to the film's merch (as it usually is).
Savage Hulk will appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, according to a toy listing
Channel Displaying Model Behaviour is known for its track record of unveiling figures ahead of time, and history might've repeated itself once again. According to them, Hasbro is working on three Marvel Legends figures for Spider-Man: Brand New Day: one of the wall-crawler himself, another one of the Punisher, and the last one is of "a savage version" of Hulk.

The last time audiences saw the Green Goliath was during the events of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where he was still under the Smart Hulk persona. That means Bruce Banner is in full control of the Hulk's body, creating the perfect mix of mind and strength. However, fan response to this iteration of the character has been mostly mixed to negative, with many reminiscing about the days when he was a true force to be reckoned with, as opposed to being light-hearted. Fortunately, that might change soon.
If Savage Hulk does come into the picture, then we'd finally see the green monster go back to his violent ways (and perhaps even more extreme than before). But it also prompts the question: What could cause Bruce to lose control over "the other guy" for the first time since the events of Avengers: Endgame?
The overall consensus among fans is that Mister Negative could appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and be responsible for Hulk's upcoming transformation. However, multiple insiders have confirmed that Martin Li and his Inner Demon army won't be in the movie, which would debunk this theory. So, either the Doctor Strange villain Nightmare makes an appearance and turns the Hulk into a senseless killing machine (as it happened in comic book pages), or Bruce will simply get extremely angry for an unknown reason, prompting him to lose control (without the involvement of an external force).
Bruce Banner's transformation into a monster once again couldn't come at a better time, considering that Avengers: Doomsday is just around the corner. It would be the first time audiences see an uncontrolled version of Hulk alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes since Avengers: Age of Ultron, all the way back in 2015. Needless to say, it's been a long time coming, so let's just hope that the character's transformation makes sense in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and that it all ties up swiftly into the movie's bigger narrative.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on Jul. 31, 2026.
