If there is one thing Marvel movies have taught us over the years, it’s that just because a character has been killed doesn’t mean their time in the franchise is truly over.

Throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s history, we have seen several iconic characters meet their demise on-screen only to be brought back down the line. Sometimes, a character has been quite literally brought back from the dead via some twist of fate to further the narrative and continue their journey via a new chapter. This list includes several iconic characters such as Loki, Phil Coulson, Vision, Gamora, Agatha Harkness, and Bucky Barnes.

Other times, Marvel has found ways to bring back beloved characters and the actors who played them for unexpected cameos, such as flashbacks, memories, and spiritual guides of sorts. These moments honor the deaths of the characters while giving fans the chance to see them again in a manner that often tugs at fans’ heartstrings through scenes that help our central hero overcome the obstacles they’re facing on their latest journey and give them the strength to carry on.

We saw this just this summer with Spider-Man: Brand New Day with the return of Marisa Tomei as Aunt May in a flashback connected to a pivotal memory of Peter's, which helps him to break through to Sadie Sink’s character in the film. And it seems there’s another Marvel legend who will soon join this trend as well.

Angela Bassett will reportedly return as Queen Ramonda in Black Panther 3

One of the most shocking moments of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was the death of Queen Ramonda, who died saving Riri Williams after Namor and his army attacked Wakanda. Her death was one that hit fans particularly hard as they were still mourning the loss of T’Challa, whose on-screen death came after the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman.

Angela Bassett’s performance in the film moved both fans and critics alike, earning Bassett an Oscar nomination for the role and winning her a Golden Globe for the performance. This was not surprising at all, as Bassett delivered a powerful performance that was without a doubt one of the best we’ve ever seen in a superhero film, and it was her performance that made it so hard to think about the film being her last appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thankfully, it seems Black Panther: Wakanda Forever might not be her final appearance after all.

According to trusted scooper Alex Perez, Marvel is reportedly looking to bring Bassett back for a role in Black Panther 3. At this time, nothing has been locked in, and Perez even notes that this is still a rumor at this stage in the film’s production; however, it seems Marvel is hoping to feature Queen Ramonda in some capacity and will look to leverage the Ancestral Plane as a way to bring her back into the mix.

This would make perfect sense given the third film will see David Jonsson take over the role of Prince T'Challa II, who will become the new Black Panther in the MCU. During the process of becoming the new Black Panther, we expect that T'Challa II will eat the Heart-Shaped Herb, and it would be really special for him to see his late grandmother on the Ancestral Plane. Getting to see scenes between Jonsson and Bassett would be a really special moment for the franchise, and it would be nice to see the two characters have the chance to interact with each other on-screen.

Having T'Challa II get the chance to hear from his grandmother as he prepares to follow in his late father’s footsteps would be a beautiful moment not only for the character but for the audience as well.
