Marvel actors seemingly reveal a big Hulk spoiler in Spider-Man: Brand New Day

We've seen the Hulk before, but never like this. The stars of Spider-Man: Brand New Day have seemingly spoiled a big surprise ahead of the film's release.

It's been eight years since we've seen the Hulk unleashed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The last time the Green Goliath was set loose was during the events of Avengers: Infinity War, and even then, he was easily defeated by Thanos. Ever since that moment, the destructive monster has taken a step back in favor of Smart Hulk, a perfect combination of Bruce Banner's mind and the Hulk's strength. But at long last, the days of chaos are upon us.

The second Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer revealed that someone with mind-control powers will use their abilities on Bruce Banner to unleash the beast. After years of living a peaceful life, the Hulk will be back in action, but it seems there will be more to his transformation than originally envisioned. According to the actors of the MCU's upcoming project, the Green Goliath may not be green after all.

The Grey Hulk's appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day has seemingly been spoiled

Sometimes, Marvel's worst enemy is itself. Tom Holland is known for leaking surprises ahead of time, but this time, his co-stars took his place. During an interview with Fandango, Tom Holland was asked what Spidey's dynamic with Hulk will be like. Naturally, the Marvel superstar couldn't quite give us an insight to keep the surprise intact, so he jokingly answered, "Well, the Hulk is green," to which Zendaya responded, "Is he, though?" with Jacob Batalon adding, "There's other colors." Holland then mentioned, "I didn't say that, by the way. They said that."

It's all but confirmed now: the Grey Hulk is definitely coming our way.

Granted, audiences worldwide have already seen the Hulk in action in the second Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer, and he appears to be green still, not gray. However, it's important to remember that this is Marvel we're talking about, the very same studio that digitally removed Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's versions of Spider-Man from the No Way Home sneak peeks. As such, the Brand New Day trailer could've been altered, and there's evidence to suggest this is the case.

Fans were able to spot the Grey Hulk on the official Spidey Tracker website launched by Sony. Not only that, but the exact same scene he appears in is also featured in the Brand New Day trailer, and he's green in it. This would all but confirm that the trailer has been altered to try to keep the Hulk's new color palette hidden until the release date.

In the comic book world, the Grey Hulk is associated with the Joe Fixit persona. This version of the iconic Marvel antihero is a calculating gangster who can be incredibly cruel and is fully able to talk and communicate with others. Granted, it's unlikely that we'll see a one-to-one adaptation of this terrifying persona on the big screen. Instead, Marvel could intend for this new look to be associated with the Savage Hulk persona.

It has been reported that the Savage Hulk's arc won't end in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and it will be expanded upon in the upcoming Avengers movies. If that were to be the case, it would make sense for Marvel to rework the antihero's image for multiple upcoming appearances rather than just for one. Still, Marvel likes to constantly introduce new designs of its most popular characters to sell more merch and toys.

It will be interesting to see whether there will be other changes associated with the Hulk aside from the new color palette. But to finally watch Bruce Banner lose control of his other half after eight years will be a welcome change. The only question remaining is how Spider-Man and the Punisher will be able to stop him (if at all).

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on July 31, 2026.
