The last few weeks have been a little chaotic in Hell's Kitchen. Marvel fans were taken aback by the reports indicating that Daredevil: Born Again season 3 would also be the last. While some hoped that there wasn't any weight behind these rumors, New York Comic-Con finally put all speculation to rest. Matt Murdock himself, Charlie Cox, confirmed that his character's show is coming to an end next year. Naturally, the question arose: Will we ever see more of this iteration of Matt Murdock in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Unfortunately, Marvel didn't give any concrete answer about the Man Without Fear's future at NYCC. While it was widely theorized that a Heroes for Hire Special Presentation would be announced at the event, that was far from the case. Furthermore, there were no updates about a potential Defenders mini-series, and with Charlie Cox previously confirming that Daredevil won't be in the upcoming Avengers movies, the character's fate remained up in the air. But while many questions remain unanswered, there is still one glimmer of hope.

Marvel teases we'll see more of Daredevil in the future

Head of Streaming, Television and Animation at Marvel Studios, Brad Winderbaum, was a guest on The Brandon Davis Show, where he discussed the cancellation of Daredevil: Born Again. Winderbaum revealed that the plan was always to end the Disney+ show on its third release, mimicking the original run of the Netflix series. However, he also hinted that there's still a future for Daredevil outside of Born Again:

"The way we were looking at it: The original series is three seasons. Born Again: three seasons. They are kind of like trade paperbacks or collections that you can slot into your shelf. These are two three-volume sets, and then we'll take a breath and then figure out what's next for the character."

The key takeaway here is that Marvel is still keen on "figuring out what's next for the character." That also means Daredevil: Born Again season 3 won't have a definite ending that forever closes Matt Murdock's arc in the MCU. While the character could take a break—as teased by Winderbaum's statement—we should see more of him in the future. The only question remaining is: where and when will that happen?

Despite Charlie Cox's repeated denial that he's involved in either of the two upcoming Avengers movies, multiple reports say that his character will have a role in Secret Wars along with other Defenders. Furthermore, industry insider Alex Perez has also revealed that Marvel is planning a big street-level crossover movie involving the likes of Daredevil, the Punisher, Spider-Man, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and more.

The natural evolution of Daredevil's character is for him to finally appear on the big screen alongside other Marvel heroes who aren't part of the Defenders. Ever since his introduction in 2015, Charlie Cox's Daredevil has been relegated to a small corner of the MCU and has missed out on the ambitious crossovers and team-up projects. So, there's no better time for him to finally join the broader franchise than with the culmination of the Multiverse Saga. Besides, there could also be a world where his character appears in more films, gains more popularity, and returns in a stand-alone show in the future.

There are plenty of places where the Man Without Fear could show up next. Only time will tell when we'll see more of him after Daredevil: Born Again season 3 releases, but it appears Marvel has no intention of simply giving up on the character or his story. With a bit of luck, Matt and the rest of the Defenders will join Earth's Mightiest Heroes next year, and from that point onwards they will become recurring MCU characters.

Daredevil: Born Again season 3 will be released in 2027.
