No one looks at Victor Creed, a.k.a. Sabretooth, and thinks of him as someone who falls in love. He’s had brief relationships before (with Mystique being among them). Nevertheless, Creed isn’t a romantic. He’s too busy murdering people and making money to start the process and stay in a relationship. But if any writer could do it and make it believable, it’s Frank Tieri.
Frank Tieri is a veteran comic book writer who’s written multiple Weapon X alumni like Wolverine and Deadpool. He’s even written an actual Weapon X series - all of which Sabretooth appeared in. That’s why it wasn’t shocking when Marvel announced Sabretooth: The Dead Don’t Talk with him as the writer. Tieri understands the character better than most. One of the things he gets is that he has layers. This series shows that part by Creed falling in love with a former Immortal Iron Fist.

Happy SABRETOOTH: THE DEAD DON’T TALK #4 Day, everyone! This issue really puts the DEAD in the DEAD DON’T TALK, if you know what I mean. And if you’ve been reading this series featuring Victor Creed’s murderous rampage though the 1900’s New York Underworld, I’m sure that you do… pic.twitter.com/EmhLReK5Co

"We are the ones with power. We should be the ones running things. Not them."Dragonfire
Sabretooth teamed up with an Iron Fist - and assassin - named Dragonfire to take over crime in the Five Points of New York. Dragonfire was initially hired to kill him but realized there was potential. So instead of continuing to fight, they got intimate in a burning building. After leaving, she told Creed they should be running things.
Taking over wasn’t difficult since the two of them had superpowers and metahumans weren’t a big threat yet (it was the early 1900s). As they continued their journey, the two continued their sexual relationship as their feelings deepened. After officially taking over, Sabretooth is lying in bed with Dragonfire and admits that he’s falling for her. He doesn’t say love, but he admits it in a very Victor Creed way.
The next morning, Sabretooth wakes up confused and covered in his blood. He starts to look around the room and finds that Dragonfire was killed while he was unconscious and healing. He holds her dead body, mourning her briefly and there's no way this didn't shock readers. For what may be the first time in Victor Creed’s long life, he was heartbroken over a loss. It wasn’t because he needed Dragonfire, he wanted to be with her.
Now that Sabretooth knows who killed her, he’s on his way to get revenge. With one more issue left in Sabretooth: The Dead Don’t Talk, we’ll see how this concludes, why the old man is telling Logan this tale, and how it connects to the past, present, and possible future of Victor Creed. Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow for the answers.
