Marvel and DC are undisputably the two biggest titans of the superhero industry, and with good reason. Both companies have created some of the most iconic characters across any medium, whose adventures have overflowed comic book pages and traversed into TV series, theatrical movies, video games, and even action figures. Their creations have reached such immense levels of popularity that fans quickly began to wonder what would happen if both of these universes were to collide in a jaw-dropping and explosive tale. Fortunately, for the first time in years, we don't have to wonder anymore.
A crossover two decades in the making has finally become a reality. Marvel and DC have joined forces to give us a team-up no superhero fan will want to miss. The world's greatest detective is about to cross paths with the merc with a mouth. It's the Dark Knight versus Weapon XI. Batrangs against Katanas. A brilliant mind meeting he who breaks the fourth wall. That's right, Batman and Deadpool are about to steal the spotlight in the best way possible later this year.
DC and Marvel announce a Batman and Deadpool comic crossover
As revealed by Entertainment Weekly, Marvel and DC will come together to work on an unprecedented Batman and Deadpool crossover. This highly anticipated event will kick off on Sep. 17, 2025, as Marvel publishes Deadpool/Batman No.1, written by Zeb Wells and featuring art by Greg Capullo. The story will soon be followed up when DC releases Batman/Deadpool No. 1 in November 2025, with Grant Morrison set to write the story and Dan Mora in charge of the artwork.
This landmark crossover marks the first major collaboration between DC and Marvel in decades—bringing together Gotham’s Dark Knight Detective and the Marvel’s Deadpool in an explosive adventure that fans never expected but always dreamed of.

Wade Wilson will be hired to complete a job in Gotham City, an event that will soon put him in the Dark Knight's crosshairs. However, their introduction may be quickly interrupted by a bigger and greater problem, as revealed by former The Amazing Spider-Man writer Zeb Wells:
"In Batman we've found someone who has even less time for Deadpool's antics than Wolverine, but a city-wide threat from the Joker makes strange bedfellows (literally, if Deadpool had his way). It's been a blast letting Deadpool loose in Gotham City and watching what happens."
Batman and Son writer Grant Morrison didn't give too much away about what to expect when these two beloved characters cross paths. However, he did reveal that there will be a lot of the iconic fourth-wall breaking that Deadpool is known for:
“Expect 4th wall busting mayhem, owls, blood, blades, and at least one giant typewriter!”
While it's exciting to know that Deadpool's antics will get to test Batman's patience soon enough, we can't help but wonder if other iconic DC or Marvel characters will be added into the mix as well. Fortunately, these one-shot comic book issues will also feature "backup stories" set to star unexpected fan-favorites from both universes:
Batman/Deadpool #1 will feature an exciting lineup of backup stories, each showcasing dynamic matchups between beloved characters from both universes. Details on these thrilling tales and their creative teams will be coming soon.
Comic book readers are in for a fun, violent, and fourth-wall-breaking adventure that will unite some of the most popular characters from DC and Marvel. Batman and Deadpool will have the spotlight all to their own soon enough, but they won't be the only ones. Another pair of one-shot crossover issues will arrive at an unspecified date in 2026, further expanding the collaboration between the two comic industry giants. Now, the only question remaining is: What interesting match-up is awaiting us? Hopefully, it won't be long before we figure it out.
Deadpool/Batman No.1 will be released on Sep. 17, 2025.
