It's nearly time to swing back into action. After disappearing from the face of the Earth (and from the big screen for nearly five years), Peter Parker will start a brand new chapter in his life filled with no shortage of dangers. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is shaping up to be the most ambitious film starring the wall-crawler to date: The Punisher will join forces with Peter Parker, Jean Grey is rumored to make her debut in the movie, and Scorpion, Tombstone, and The Hand will terrorize New York City. But one of the most secretive aspects of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe project is the Hulk's role.
Ever since Avengers: Endgame hit theaters, the Hulk has been a shadow of his former, destructive self. While the Green Goliath used to wreak havoc and turn entire cities to dust, we've watched Professor Hulk take over the spotlight in recent memory and solve problems in an amicable way. Six years since Earth's Mightiest Heroes last assembled, superhero fans are still waiting to see whether Marvel will unleash the monster once more. Fortunately, we finally have a concrete answer.

Hulk will go back to his destructive ways in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, as revealed by the film's new merch
The first Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer revealed that Bruce Banner will join the upcoming MCU adventure. However, we never saw him transform into the Green Monster in that footage, prompting the question of whether such an event would even happen. Fortunately, not only will Hulk appear in the movie, but he'll be as destructive as he once was (if not more so).
Hasbro revealed its new wave of Spider-Man: Brand New Day figures, and one of them is none other than the Marvel Legends Series Hulk. The Green Goliath features a destroyed lab coat, gray hair, and the iconic angry expression that the character used to sport in every one of the Avengers movies. Furthermore, a battle between the wall-crawler and Hulk is teased, as showcased in the figures' photos.

The official Hasbro website also provides a very interesting tease of Hulk's role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day:
"Spider-Man is surprised to see the Hulk again after so much time has passed, and has no idea if Hulk will remember him. Will Hulk be a friend or foe?"
This phrase could be a nod to the Immortal Hulk: Great Power (2020) comic book issue, where Hulk is able to remember Peter Parker is Spider-Man, even when the rest of the world (including Bruce Banner) forgot about the hero's secret identity. Maybe we're about to witness a similar scenario on the big screen, especially now that Doctor Strange's spell has erased any trace of Peter's identity.
In case Hasbro's Marvel Legends Series Hulk isn't enough to convince you that the Green Goliath will be more savage than ever before, then perhaps a different piece of merch can do the trick. LEGO unveiled three Spider-Man: Brand New Day sets, and one of them features Hulk destroying the Department of Damage Control's facility. Furthermore, we also have new glimpses at Tarantula, Boomerang, and Scorpion.

For months now, it has been reported that Savage Hulk will make his appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Rumor has it that someone will use the Green Goliath as a diversion to keep both the wall-crawler and The Punisher distracted. Unfortunately, we don't have any clues as to who will be pulling the strings from the shadows or how they will manage to turn Professor Hulk from a peaceful hero into a machine of destruction.
One possibility is that Jean Grey will use her mind-control powers to bring back the monster within Bruce Banner. Another possibility is that Peter's struggle with his radioactive powers will lead him to ask for Bruce's help. So, maybe one failed experiment later, the Green Goliath will be back in action. Otherwise, The Hand could be responsible for bringing the worst out in Bruce.
Reports indicate that Savage Hulk's role in the MCU will go past Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The violent anti-hero could cause even more trouble in Earth's Mightiest Heroes' upcoming adventures, as if Doctor Doom weren't enough. In previous years, Black Widow was able to control the beast, but now that she's gone, it will be much more complicated to try to temper the situation. Hopefully, Spidey and Punisher manage to find the answers just in time to save New York City.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on Jul. 31, 2026.
