Just when it seemed Marvel couldn't change the Spider-Man mythos due to the hero's 64 years of well-known history, a shocking twist came our way. After the events of the Death Spiral comic book storyline, it was revealed that Peter has a lost cousin named Cormac Crane whom nobody seemed to know about. At first, readers (and Peter himself) thought it was a distant cousin, barely related to the wall-crawler. However, it was revealed that Cormac is actually Aunt May and Uncle Ben's son.

Yes, throughout all this time, Peter had a first cousin, and nobody even knew that he was alive. So how does something like that happen? Readers were left with many questions after The Amazing Spider-Man (2025) No. 30, but now we finally have some much-needed answers.

The Amazing Spider-Man (2025) No. 31 finally unveils how Aunt May had a son no one knew about

Peter and Aunt May were having dinner at her house when Cormac unexpectedly arrived. It was at that moment that the uninvited guest revealed the truth: he is May's son. At first, Peter reacted with anger, claiming that May couldn't have had a child without knowing about it. But after everyone had the chance to cool down, May finally revealed the truth.

Turns out, she and Ben didn't want kids at first because they wanted to travel and see the whole world together. A kid would only "slow them down." The only problem getting in the way of their dream was a lack of money. So after coming to terms with their situation, they decided to become parents.

May got pregnant, and it seemed she and Ben had a bright future ahead of them. Unfortunately, May miscarried after the first trimester. She was later told by the doctors that she had a heart condition that would make it very risky for her to have a baby. Still, May and Ben wanted to forge their own path despite the doctors' advice, and tried to become parents two more times, both of which were unsuccessful.

After risking her life three times in a row, May gave up on the dream of becoming a mother. Instead, she and Ben finally took a vacation to Europe and saw the world together. But after a few drinks during the trip, the two tried to have a kid yet again. Fortunately, things were more promising this time around.

After three unsuccessful attempts, May finally had a son. She looked at him for a split second and felt relief. However, what was supposed to be a beautiful moment quickly turned into tragedy. The kid never cried, and doctors stated that he was having respiratory distress. The hospital staff took May's son away, and they eventually returned with bad news. May and Ben's newborn had died... or at least, that's what everyone believed.

In reality, there was a mistake at the hospital all those years ago. The wrong couple took May's son, and she buried one that wasn't hers. After that moment, May and Ben decided never to speak of such a traumatic event ever again. The rest is the history that fans know.

May and Ben eventually raised their nephew, Peter, as if he were their own son. Ben passed away, Peter gained superpowers, and Spider-Man has been protecting New York ever since. But now, Cormac Crane is back in the mix, and it will be interesting to see how he changes the dynamic between Peter and May. Fortunately, it won't be long before we discover how this tale unfolds.

The Amazing Spider-Man (2025) No. 32 will be released on Jul. 1, 2026.
