Now that the calendar has officially turned to 2025, we’re only months away from when cameras are set to begin rolling on Marvel Studios’ first Avengers movie post-Endgame.

Needless to say, there are incredibly high expectations for what will become the fifth Avengers film set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Originally, the plan was for Avengers 5 to focus on Kang via Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. However, those plans went out the window when Marvel cut ties with Jonathan Majors and the studio eventually pivoted to one of the greatest Marvel Comics villains to serve as the next lead villain: Doctor Victor von Doom.

With the change late in the game, Marvel hasn’t exactly had much time to build up Doom as an Avenger-threat-level villain which has fans curious to see how exactly Doom will come to face the Avengers in Avengers: Doomsday. Not only is there a lot of mystery around how Doom will enter the picture, but the identities of the Avengers who will be involved in the upcoming battle remain just as much of a mystery to fans.

Cast announcements have gradually been coming to light and with production about to begin in London this March, it’s expected that many actors’ involvement will finally be confirmed as cameras start rolling. In fact, a production notice might have just confirmed the rumored return of a Marvel legend fans have been hoping to see back in the MCU!

Elizabeth Olsen reportedly joins Avengers: Doomsday cast

As Marvel gears up to begin production on Avengers: Doomsday, the studio is working to get its paperwork in order to make sure cameras can begin rolling this spring on the film. With the studio looking to begin filming in late March, a new leak has hit the internet which seems to be connected to a UK production listing for the film shared by insider Chad Ryan on social media.

In the production listing, there are several key pieces of information including names of the cast which includes some of the actors previously confirmed for the film including Robert Downey Jr, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss, Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, and several members of the  Thunderbolts cast including Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Wyatt Russell, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Olga Kurylenko. Also present on the cast list is Elizabeth Olsen, seeming to confirm the long-speculated rumor that Olsen will make her highly anticipated return to the MCU within Avengers: Doomsday.

While only Marvel can confirm the validity of production reports and the studio isn’t exactly known for commenting on rumors, Olsen’s name being featured on the cast list gives an indication that she’ll have a sizeable role in the film which is sure to excite Scarlet Witch fans who have been calling for her return.

Fans have refused to believe that Scarlet Witch was truly killed in the finale of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and there has been a lot of speculation about Olsen returning to reprise her role. Many hoped that perhaps we’d next see her via a Scarlet Witch standalone film, but it seems Olsen’s next appearance will come in Avengers: Doomsday.

It will be interesting to see how exactly Wanda is brought back into the fold given how we left things, and it’s also not even known exactly which version of the character could be back for the film which is expected to incorporate multiversal elements. Some rumors have speculated she’ll be a key asset for the Avengers in their battle against Doom, while others have hints she could be working with Doom. Whatever the case ends up being, we’re eager to see Olsen back in the mix within the MCU and know fans are going to be thrilled to have Wanda back in any capacity.

And who knows, perhaps the film will serve as the stepping stone for that solo Scarlet Witch movie to finally get the green light from Marvel Studios!
