Major star reportedly in talks to join Spider-Man 4; iconic role expected
Spider-Man 4 may just be the most anticipated movie on the release schedule. It's definitely one of the most anticipated, and it certainly is at home in that group (among other Marvel Cinematic Universe movies like the upcoming Avengers films). There is no doubt that it will be one of the biggest movies of 2026, and MCU fans are ready to see what it has in store for them.
When we last caught up with Tom Holland's webslinger, he made the selfless choice to allow all of his loved ones to forget that he exists in order to save the world from multiverse threats that looked to destroy it simply because they knew that Peter Parker was Spider-Man. He's now fighting to protect those in need in the streets of New York City as something of a lone warrior. But still, he's their Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
The Spider-Man movies in the MCU always have incredible star-power to go along with its core cast members. From Robert Downey Jr. to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, Spidey brings out the A-listers. And now, according to a new report, we could see another major name join the franchise in the upcoming fourth installment.
Madelyn Cline rumored to star in Spider-Man 4
Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline may be joining the cast of Spider-Man 4. According to a report from a blind item on Deuxmoi, the Netflix superstar is in talks to appear in the upcoming Marvel movie, appearing alongside Tom Holland and Zendaya.
It's always important to take these reports with a pinch of salt until confirmed by Marvel Studios or Sony, but the rumors around who she could be playing do add some potential weight to this rumor. Although it doesn't confirm who she could portray, a number of insiders have suggested that Cline could take on the role of Felicia Hardy, a.k.a. the Black Cat, a character who has been expected to make her MCU debut in the next Spider-Man trilogy of movies.
Cline has been acting since 2009, appearing in prominent programs such as The Originals and Stranger Things for short stints. It was her role as Sarah Cameron in Netflix's Outer Banks that skyrocketed her to superstardom as the show has become a phenomenon. She has since appeared in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and will star in the next I Know What You Did Last Summer movie (while also returning for the fifth and final season of Outer Banks).
As for whether she will appear in Spider-Man 4, that has yet to be confirmed, but there is no doubt that she would be a major addition to both the franchise and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general, especially if she's playing Black Cat.
Introduced in the Marvel Comics in 1979, Felicia Hardy takes after her world-renowned cat burglar father, becoming a skilled cat burglar herself and an expert fighter to go along with it. Very much considered Marvel's answer to Catwoman, she has had a complex relationship with Spider-Man over the years, being a committed ally, formidable enemy, best friend, and lover. Look no further than what may just be her most iconic adaptation yet in Spider-Man: The Animated Series, in which she played a key role over the five seasons.
The character would certainly be a wild card if she were to make her MCU debut, but it goes without saying that Cline would be a heck of a casting who would bring the larger-than-life character to the screen with ease.
