Over six years ago, audiences worldwide witnessed as Earth's Mightiest Heroes faced their biggest Marvel Cinematic Universe threat yet in the form of Thanos. Back then, we all thought no one would ever be able to top the Mad Titan as a villain, but if the post-credits scenes of The Fantastic Four: First Steps made something clear, it is that someone is certainly willing to try.
Avengers: Doomsday will mark the first time Victor Von Doom steps onto the big screen after a decade. As such, fans are eager to learn whether the iconic sorcerer will finally have a comic book-accurate look, considering he had two not-so-faithful adaptations in the past.
Fortunately, Marvel has been slowly but steadily pulling back the curtain behind the anticipated crossover ahead of its release, and now we have an HD look at the villain in all of his glory. But as exciting as the revelation is, there's one odd detail in his suit that could suggest this version of Doom is even more ruthless than originally anticipated (and we aren't complaining in the slightest).

Doom's time in the MCU has already been quite interesting, to say the least. Our first ever glimpse of him came during the post-credits scenes of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, but audiences only saw his back and an obscured mask. It wasn't until Disney held a Merchandise Expo in Shanghai, China, that a complete look at the villain was showcased during a light show, much to fans' surprise. Ever since that moment, Marvel has been using that same model of Doom in multiple promotional materials, such as the following image:

Marvel is keen on continuing the trend of creating comic-book accurate suits, as Victor's armor is simply stunning and faithful to the source material. The mask has much more detail than the one utilized in The Fantastic Four: First Steps (which was likely just a temporary prop), and the color palette is nothing short of perfect. However, there are two very interesting details in the form of the cape's clasps.
One clasp appears to depict the Captain Marvel logo, while the other has a recreation of Thor's hammer. These small details can't be coincidental, and there should be a story reason as to why they are there. Could Doom have defeated the Captain Marvel and Thor variants of his universe, and now display their logos in his suit as some kind of trophy? If that turns out to be the case, then it would speak volumes as to how powerful this version of Doom truly is.
Captain Marvel and Thor are among the most powerful characters in the MCU as a whole, with few managing to rival their powers. Remember how dire the situation was during the battle of Wakanda in Avengers: Infinity War, and how Thor's entrance managed to change the tide? Or what about when Captain Marvel single-handedly destroyed Thanos' main ship during the third act of Avengers: Doomsday? If these two fan-favorite heroes perished at the hands of Doom, then it would spell nothing but trouble for our version of The Avengers, who are now divided into multiple teams.
Marvel didn't have a chance of establishing Doom's character before the release of Avengers: Doomsday, meaning they will likely take advantage of every opportunity (no matter how small) to make him seem as someone ever more powerful than Thanos. So, Victor carrying around "trophies" to display some of his biggest wins on the battlefield is certainly one way to accomplish that. Fortunately, it won't be long before we find out if this theory turns out to be true.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released on Dec. 18, 2026.
