There are no bigger cinematic titans than The Avengers. Marvel's group of mighty heroes first assembled on the silver screen back in 2012 and achieved instant box office success, setting the stage for the Marvel Cinematic Universe's ascension to the box office champion that it is now. The heights would only get higher after that.

But The Avengers are also the sum of their parts, for the legendary team is crafted out of some of the most powerful, effective, and iconic superheroes to ever grace the pages of Marvel Comics. We saw that on-screen when the MCU kicked off with standalone films like Iron Man, Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor, and The Incredible Hulk, showing us what just some of those heroes were capable of on their own. Putting them together meant that success was inevitable.

But in the midst of all that power are some very human humans (and some very human non-humans), who like to debate about who the strongest of them truly are. Thor and The Hulk in particular like to think of themselves as the "strongest Avenger" but is the most powerful among them simply raw physical power, or should it consist of other-worldly, supernatural abilities too?

Whether you’re Team Iron Man or Team Captain America, a Thor stan or a Wanda stan, it's easy to argue when it comes to power; but it's so much harder to figure out who the most powerful of them all might be when there are multiple deserving candidates. With that in mind, let’s rank all of the silver screen’s Avengers from weakest to strongest.

17. Hawkeye

You’re probably not surprised to see Hawkeye at the bottom of this list. Poor Clint Barton gets a hard time from audiences, mostly because Hawkeye isn’t as well known of a hero as the rest of his MCU warriors, but he is one of the most underrated members of the team. He’s also a pretty great protagonist who shines whenever given the chance (Disney Plus’ Hawkeye series is a perfect example of that).

Nevertheless, he is still the weakest Avenger on the team. There’s no shame in that, because it makes him the most human – and that is a strength in and of itself. A skilled archer, swordsman and marksman, he’s been a loyal SHIELD operative, an Avenger, and even a murderous vigilante, which shows you his range.

Clint is essentially the Avengers’ answer to Batman. What he lacks in otherworldly powers, he makes up for in skills, tactics, and all around-brains. All it takes is a second for him and the battle is over. Heck, when he became the Ronan, it took less than that.

Hawkeye has also held his own against all kinds of otherworldly threats, including Loki, the Chituari, Ultron, Thanos’ entire army, so if you think he’s weak, you’re wrong.
