We are just two months away from the biggest movie of the year. A wild statement to make considering the outrageous success that Spider-Man: Brand New Day has experienced this summer I know, but this is Avengers: Doomsday we are talking about here, so I'm pretty confident in it. Marvel Studios has been pulling out all the stops to ensure that the opening salvo to the Multiverse Saga's conclusion is going to match the previous two Avengers movies in terms of success, and it's looking like it just might do it.
When it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this is the Super Bowl, so you can rest assured that the movie itself will be going all out. And if the first two trailers for the movie - and the abundance of both character-centric teasers and TV spots that have come after that - prove anything, it's that Doctor Doom's arrival in the MCU is going to be an unforgettable one.
Now, as we approach the two-month milestone before the movie, the studio has released a new teaser trailer for the movie... and let's just say it's not like the rest.
Three unexpected Avengers take center stage in new Doomsday teaser trailer
Marvel Studios has unveiled a brand new teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday spotlighting three specific Avengers. Unlike the previous two (and even the four character-centric teasers before that), this one doesn't feature any new footage from the movie; instead, it spotlights the actors who will play those characters. And it sets the stage for Doctor Doom's arrival once again.
Filmed in the Alcazaba of Málaga in Spain in celebration of San Diego Comic-Con Málaga, it sees the legendary fortress serve as the backdrop for the arrival of multiple green hooded figures, who make their solemn presence felt very quickly. Side note: The sight of those hooded figures isn't too unlike an episode of The Traitors but this is all about teasing Doctor Doom. But the green figures are not alone.

As the hooded figures assemble in the the fortress, they are met by Anthony Mackie, David Harbour, and Winston Duke. Mackie plays Sam Wilson, a.k.a. Captain America (and the original Falcon), while Harbour portrays Alexei Shostakov, a.k.a. Red Guardian, and Duke is M'Baku. All three will appear as part of Avengers: Doomsday's massive, star-studded cast, and it's a pleasant surprise to see them get such focus in this promo.
While fans are hoping for a third official trailer from Avengers: Doomsday that will feature more footage from the movie, this is very likely just the opening chapter to the next phase of promo for the film. If anything, this highlights how larger-than-life the marketing for the upcoming MCU movie is in terms of scale, and the sight of those hooded, cloaked figures opposite three core Avengers in the film truly is one to behold.
Avengers: Doomsday will see the official arrival of Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom in the MCU. A legendary Marvel Comics villain who has served as the Big Bad of the Fantastic Four for decades, he had yet to make his debut in the Marvel Studios franchise until recently, when the post-credits scene of The Fantastic Four: First Steps saw him approach Franklin Richards - the son of Reed Richards and Sue Storm.
The fate of the multiverse itself will hang in the balance as the Avengers will team up with the Fantastic Four and the original X-Men in an adventure that spans three separate worlds as Earth's Mightiest Heroes look to defeat Doom, stop the incursions, and protect every world from imminent danger.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives in movie theaters on December 18, 2026.
