Marvel's next video game has a release date (and it's sooner than expected)

Oftentimes, we watch Marvel heroes save the day on comic book pages or the big screen. Fortunately, we'll live the adventure for ourselves soon enough.

To say Marvel Games is on a roll as of late would be an understatement. Fans have seen the release of iconic action-adventure games such as Marvel's Spider-Man 2, all the way to live-service titles like Marvel Rivals, which managed to stand tall amidst an ocean of competitors. The best part? Next year, we'll see the release of three highly anticipated heavy hitters from the superhero giant courtesy of Marvel's Wolverine, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, and Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. But before we start to look forward to what 2026 has to offer, there are still a few surprises scattered throughout this year.

Marvel's Deadpool VR will release on Meta Quest 3 on November 18, inviting players to live first-hand the violent, bloody, and chaotic adventures of the Merc With A Mouth. But in case that wasn't enough, Marvel has confirmed the release date of another game that's unlike anything the company has released in recent years. Fortunately, we don't have to wait long to play it for ourselves.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion releases on December 1, 2025, on all major platforms

After Annihilus launches an attack across the entire galaxy, some of Earth's Mightiest Heroes will have to assemble in order to put a stop to the madness in this beat-'em-up title with arcade-like graphics. Marvel Cosmic Invasion will officially release on December 1, 2025, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

To commemorate the occasion, Marvel published a new trailer that unveils two new playable characters in the form of Iron Man and Phoenix. Players will be able to pick between a roster of 15 heroes at launch, with fan-favorites such as Spider-Man, Captain America, Storm, Ghost Rider, Venom, She-Hulk, Rocket, and Wolverine filling in the other slots, just to name a few. Fortunately, the celebration won't stop there.

Starting January 2026, 12 Marvel Cosmic Invasion comic-book variant covers will be released across different series like Venom (2025), Amazing Spider-Man: Torn, Iron Man (2026), and more. Each variant cover depicts a different character in front of a cosmic background re-imagined in a retro-like style, which is very fitting for developer Tribute Games' upcoming game.

A demo for Marvel Cosmic Invasion was launched on Steam on October 1, 2025, and so far, it has gathered a "very positive" score based on over 500 reviews. The demo gives players a small taste of some interesting alternate skins (such as Spider-Man wearing the symbiote suit or sporting the classic Ben Reilly look), and it also hides some unique Easter Eggs for comic book fans (like a nod to Mary Jane as All-New: Venom). But above all, the demo is the perfect opportunity to find out whether this game is your cup of tea ahead of its release.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion is available now for pre-order and will release on all major consoles on December 1, 2025.
