A new seven-minute video on the official Marvel Rivals YouTube channel features game director Guangyun Chen discussing many of the other new updates featured in the new season 3.5 DLC called The Abyss Awakens, which was released on July 11. And the video forms part of the YouTube channel’s Dev Vision series, in which Chen offers new insights about the game.

Throughout the video, Chen discusses many of the new updates featured in the DLC, including the addition of Blade and Phoenix as playable characters, the new Resource Rumble game mode, the new custom filter for test chat, the new Throne of Knull map (named after the god of the Symbiotes, which takes place on the Symbiote homeworld of Klyntar), and much more. He also gives a complete overview of everything the DLC has to offer, so players should watch the entire video to get a clear understanding of everything new in The Abyss Awakens.

You can enjoy the video interview below.

Marvel Rivals is an online third-person multiplayer shooter developed and published by Chinese company NetEase Games, and powered by the Unreal Engine 5. The game has proved to be a huge hit with fans since its launch in December on PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC, having accumulated over 40 million players and over $2.9 billion in revenue. If you still have not played Marvel Rivals, there really is no time like the present to jump in and enjoy one of the best Marvel video games for quite some time. Especially since the player base is clearly growing, so it seems like all Marvel fans will soon be playing Marvel Rivals.

Blade looks undeniably awesome in the game, so players were eager to start playing as the vampire vigilante (whose real name is Eric Brooks), when he arrived in The Abyss Awakens DLC. The character's arrival in the game is just one of the many examples of how popular the Daywalker is and it's a reminder that there is supposed to be a Blade movie on the horizon. Perhaps playing the game as the character can get us excited for his eventual arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - which is necessary right now considered the planned Blade MCU film does not seem to be happening anytime soon.

Originally announced by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige in 2019 at San Diego Comic-Con, the Blade movie was set to star two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali as the titular character but it has yet to see the light of day. Although recent reports have suggested that the project has been either cancelled or temporarily shelved, Feige more recently confirmed that it's still happening but he couldn't pin down a release window just yet. Speaking of Blade, however, MCU fans did get a treat when Wesley Snipes reprised his role from the original Blade movies in last year’s Deadpool & Wolverine.

As we wait for Blade's MCU debut, we can enjoy all that the vampire hunter has to offer in Marvel Rivals. And because the game is clearly doing so well, we can likely expect NetEase Games to continue adding content to the popular shooter for many years to come. Rest assured, Marvel’s entire roster of characters could very well appear in Marvel Rivals over the next several years.
