There's been much debate about who plays the best Spider-Man on the big screen, even before Tom Holland debuted as Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming. Is Tobey Maguire the best Spider-Man? Is Andrew Garfield? Is our reigning Spider-Man, Tom Holland, the best Spidey we've ever seen? Everyone has their preference or hot takes on the matter, even Marvel stars.
Seeing all three Spider-Men team up together in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home was perhaps one of the first times we have seen multiple iterations of a superhero character appear in the same movie. While it was an iconic moment for fans, the team-up also furthered the conversation about who's the best in the role. Well, a new Marvel star shared their take and hope for their own team-up.
Joseph Quinn calls Tom Holland the 'best ever Spider-Man'
On the red carpet for the newest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, star Joseph Quinn revealed who he thinks is the "best ever Spider-Man." Drum roll please... Tom Holland! Quinn, who actually auditioned for the Spider-Man role, shared that he thinks Holland's version of Peter Parker has been the best one on the big screen yet. Some fans will disagree with him, but there are plenty more who will definitely agree with his opinion!

Quinn plays Johnny Storm a.k.a. Human Torch in the new Fantastic Four reboot film, and like Holland, he's also the third actor to take on the role of Johnny since the 2000s. (Fans will undoubtedly be debating who's the best Johnny Storm actor in the coming weeks, especially since Chris Evans' version is a real fan-favorite.) Their trajectories as actors in the MCU are fairly similar, which makes all the more sense that in the comics, Peter and Johnny are close friends.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Quinn admitted the even though he hasn't met Holland, he's eager and hopeful to share the screen with him in the future:
"That pairing makes sense to me and I think he’s brilliant and I’m up for it. I think we’d have a laugh. I’ve never met Tom and I think he’s brilliant. His Peter Parker is the best one ever. I think he’s our best ever Spider-Man, so why not? Let’s do it, get it moving," Quinn said to The Hollywood Reporter.

Since Quinn is a millennial, having been born in 1994, you would assume that Maguire's Peter Parker would be his favorite iteration of Spider-Man. All of us millennials grew up watching that original trilogy, which was key in helping revive superhero movies for a new generation. But you have to admit that Quinn's right about Holland's Spidey being "brilliant." Honestly though, between Maguire, Garfield, and Holland, you can't go wrong with any of them!
The Fantastic Four: First Steps has been earning positive reviews ahead of its release in theaters on July 25, and if the movie can carry that upward momentum all the way to the summer box office, perhaps Quinn will have his wish granted and team up with Holland's Spider-Man in the new phase of the MCU. Holland will next appear in next summer's Spider-Man: Brand New Day, while both actors are slated to at least appear in the sweeping ensemble cast of Avengers: Doomsday in December 2026.
