Marvel Studios has been teasing fans with promos showing characters that will appear in Avengers: Doomsday. So far, fans have seen Steve Rogers, Thor, and the X-Men. The latter wasn’t a shocker after the clip of Cyclops unleashing his optic blast was released online. However, the leak looking real doesn’t mean that it was. Nevertheless, it’s certain that X-Men and Marvel Comics fans everywhere were happy that James Marsden is returning as Scott Summers.

Recently, Marvel Studios premiered another snippet revealing who else would return in Avengers: Doomsday, and it was Shuri, King M’Baku, and the Dora Milaje of Wakanda. They were walking through an empty field and met Ben Grimm of The Fantastic Four.

Dropping this promotion was brilliantly done, and not because this was the first time anyone from The Fantastic Four met another superhero. This was a smart move because it connects right back to the origin of Wakanda. This happened way back in 1961 during Fantastic Four No. 52.

A lot of fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe may not have known that Black Panther (T’Challa) and the Nation of Wakanda first appeared with (and fighting) Marvel’s First Family. Considering he’s mostly known for being one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, people would have assumed that he made his debut in an Avengers comic book. Since Wakanda is among the most technologically advanced nations in the world, it makes sense that its beginning would be tied to The Fantastic Four.

What Marvel just did was get the internet talking. The casual comic book fan will watch the trailer and not realize the significance of all the heroes in this trailer. Meanwhile, the knowledgeable comic book enthusiast will be posting about how this meetup links to the source material. But it's not just Wakanda and The Fantastic Four. Namor being shown is important, too.

There’s no way people don’t know about Namor’s obsession with Sue Storm and how that leads to a rivalry with Reed Richards. Now, neither Reed nor Sue was in the trailer, but Ch'ah Toh Almehen was. That leaves people with the question of when they will interact with each other and how it will begin.

Will Namor immediately become smitten with Sue Storm and her powerful demeanor and abilities? Is Reed going to realize that the sexy seaman is flirting with his wife? And then there’s the third option. Does Namor flirt with her at all?

As much as people may want to see the awkward moment with Mr. Fantastic and the King of Atlantis over the Invisible Woman, it may not happen. In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it was easy to see that there was something going on between them. So, sadly, it may not happen. Well, at least not until the MCU gets the reboot that’s been discussed.
