Marvel suggests that it will kill one of its most popular heroes for good

We've spent years watching this Marvel hero save the day over and over again, but those days might be coming to an end.

There's a saying that no one is truly dead in the comic book world, aside from Uncle Ben. However, that hasn't stopped Marvel from trying to bury some of its most popular heroes over and over again. Spider-Man was recently the star of a series called The Eight Deaths of Spider-Man, where (you guessed it) the friendly neighborhood hero died multiple times in a row. As if that wasn't enough, the Ultimate version of the character met his end during the events of Ultimate Endgame (2025) No. 3. So, to give the wall-crawler a bit of a rest, it's time for someone else to suffer from a terrible fate.

The Man Without Fear has been at the center of the spotlight courtesy of the second season of his Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. However, Matt Murdock isn't just busy on the small screen, as he started a brand new chapter in his life in the comic book world as well. However, we might already know the ending of this new tale, and it is as tragic as it gets.

Omen, Marvel's new supervillain, claims Matt Murdock is about to die during the events of Daredevil (2026)

Daredevil (2026) No. 1 presents a version of Matt Murdock who is facing no shortage of new challenges. He's now a college professor who goes to a bar that isn't Josie's with new colleagues who aren't Foggy Nelson. There's also another small, insignificant detail: He's facing a new, mysterious supervillain who claims to know Matt Murdock's fate.

While returning home after a night of keeping Hell's Kitchen safe, Daredevil meets Omen, a terrifying new player in town who has a message for Matt:

"[I am] a servant of vision. A seer of futures. A messenger in search of Matthew Murdock (...) Tell Matthew Murdock that I have seen his future... and he will die!"

To make matters worse, Daredevil loses his first-ever fight against Omen, and his attempts to discover who this new villain truly is lead him down a deep rabbit hole that clashes with his personal life and his responsibilities as a professor. You know, some good old superhero drama. But who exactly is Omen, and why is he targeting the Man Without Fear? While we don't have a concrete answer just yet, lead writer Stephanie Phillips gave us a tease of what to expect:

"Omen brings the combination of noir and horror to Hell's Kitchen to oppose Daredevil... or Matt, actually. Omen shows up looking for Matt Murdock but finds Daredevil. While Daredevil tries to contend physically with Omen, part of the mystery is how Matt Murdock is so tangled in Omen's web."

Coincidentally, the New York City police are following a trail of bodies that seem to be connected to Omen. But there's one big peculiarity with the assassin's modus operandi: they take the eyeballs out of the victims after killing them. No one is exactly sure who is pulling the strings or why, which makes the situation all the more unnerving. Fortunately for Matt Murdock, he's about to get a little bit of help with this case.

The final pages of Daredevil (2026) No. 2 saw Matt Murdock being rescued from being run over by a bus by Spider-Man. Furthermore, the friendly neighborhood hero is on the cover of issue No. 3. That means Marvel's two most iconic street-level characters are about to team up in the comic book world, and we can't wait to see how it all pans out.

Daredevil (2026) No. 3 will be released on Jun. 10, 2026.
