Ever since Marvel Studios brought the sheer cinematic experience of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the Disney Plus streaming service at the beginning of the Multiverse Saga, fans have anticipated multiple TV show releases from the studio a year. It's certainly made an impact in many ways (with some arguing that the overexposure has resulted in the MCU losing some lustre over the years) but there is no doubt that fans have looked forward to it.
The MCU releases aren't the only Marvel titles on Disney Plus, as we have a huge collection of classic Marvel movies and shows to choose from as well, but we'd be lying if we said that we didn't eagerly await the shows' release on the platform every few months. In fact, we were looking forward to the next one in just a few weeks, but the studio decided to delay Wonder Man until January.
The good news is that we are getting multiple Marvel titles to make up for that. For starters, The Fantastic Four: First Steps finally made its arrival on the platform last week after entertaining audiences in theaters over the summer. And now, we can enjoy another unexpectedly fun Marvel title this weekend.
LEGO Marvel Adventures: Strange Tails premieres on Disney Plus
Disney Plus has added another Marvel title to its ever-growing library of heroic releases. That's right, LEGO Marvel Avengers: Strange Tails was released on Thursday, November 14, and it's very quickly going to make an impression on longtime Marvel fans - especially those craving some new adventures from what has been a very quiet half of the year for the MCU franchise.
Granted, Strange Tails isn't part of the MCU, but it is a fun new tale centred on the heroes at the heart of the live-action franchise: The Avengers. And, if previous releases like this one are anything to go by, we're in for an extremely enjoyable treat.
This year's edition is a two-part follow-up to 2023's Code Red and 2024's Mission Demolition and it features a line-up of Avengers that is essentially identical to the one seen in the classic 2012 MCU movie, along with a few fan-favorite additions. Joining Thor, Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, and Hawkeye are Black Panther and Sam Wilson's Captain America, making for an extremely formidable line-up. And, as the clip below confirms, they are going to need it.
The adventure will see The Avengers take on Magneto and the Brotherhood of Mutants. Now, that's a battle you haven't seen in the MCU as of yet, as the iconic X-Men and the mutants have not yet formally been introduced, so this awesome showdown gives you an idea of what it would be like seeing the Avengers go up against an army of mutants. And considering that the MCU's next Avengers movie, Avengers: Doomsday, features a lot of the X-Men cast, we could see a variation of this scene come to life in the live-action format in the very-near future.
As foe what else you can expect, Strange Tails focuses primarily on a cat influencer "bent on cataclysmic destruction". The Avengers have tackled a lot in their heroic careers, but how will they fare against social media? There's only one way to find out!
LEGO Marvel Avengers: Strange Tails is now streaming on Disney Plus.
