2026 is gearing up to be an iconic year for Marvel fans. In the movies department, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday are bound to steal the spotlight while also marking the return of iconic heroes to the big screen along the way. Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, VisionQuest, and Spider-Noir headline the shows set to release throughout the year, and each of them could prove to be unlike anything we've seen before. To top things off, the Marvel Games division won't be left behind.
Marvel's Wolverine is finally set to release in 2026 after half a decade of silence since its reveal. Furthermore, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is still set to hit shelves this year, though a delay could be in the cards given how silent its developers have been. Fortunately, yet another Marvel game is in the works, and it's shaping up to be something special. We're about to take control of Earth's Mightiest Heroes in a 4v4 tag team fighter title that won't pull any punches (quite literally).
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will be released on August 6, 2026, with the X-Men set to join the fight
Mark your calendars, superhero fans. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will be released on PlayStation 5 and PC. Pre-orders will go live on Feb. 19, 2026, and they will include the following bonuses: a Baby Groot Lobby Pet, an Infinity Gauntlet to equip in the game's lobby, and a cosmic surfboard.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will launch with 20 playable characters, and a new trailer just unveiled three new ones that are bound to wreak havoc in very unique ways. Wolverine, Magik, and Danger will join previously announced character Storm to form the Unbreakable X-Men. Each hero will have their own set of powers and special abilities that will allow them to crush the competition.
Magik will be able to teleport behind opponents to catch them off guard. Wolverine's claw swipes have armor, which means he will be able to stop opponents mid-attack and unleash a flurry of strikes in return. Danger has no shortage of weapons, which gives her the upper hand in long-range battles. Given that Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is a 4v4 tag team fighting game, having the Unbreakable X-Men as part of your team gives you enough flexibility to take on any opponent.
The Ultimate Edition of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls was also unveiled, and it will include five additional character costumes, including Insomniac's Spider-Man suit, classic looks for Iron Man and Captain America, a Punk costume for Storm, and Doctor Doom's Supreme Ruler skin. Furthermore, the Ultimate Edition will give players access to the year-one character pass, which is set to include four new characters and a new stage post-launch (though details on which other characters are coming haven't been unveiled just yet).
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will feature an Episode Mode, which includes an original story that depicts Marvel heroes and villains facing an unknown threat. While details about this "story mode" are scarce, developer Arc System Works will unveil more information the closer we get to the release date. Fortunately, we finally know when that day will come, and we won't have to wait long.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will hit shelves on August 6, 2026.
