You may be aware that Knull is the God of the Symbiotes, who was played by Andy Serkis in last year's Venom: The Last Dance. But you may not be aware that Knull will soon be given his own solo comic series, which will finally bring the mysterious and supremely powerful deity - who is also known as the King in Black - into the spotlight.

The series will simply be titled Knull, and it will focus on the eponymous creator of the Symbiotes attempting to once again rise to power after his invasion of Earth was thwarted by the heroes of the world (before he was killed by being thrust into the sun by Eddie Brock). After somehow being resurrected, Knull needs to embark on a journey to reclaim his power while also defeating a rival being who has attempted to take his place. So it sounds like the King in Black really will have his work cut out for him throughout this miniseries.

Knull will run for five issues, with the first arriving on January 14, 2026. Co-writer Al Ewing is no stranger to Symbiotes, as he is the incumbent writer of Venom, making him an ideal choice for Knull’s first solo series. Ewing is writing Knull alongside Tom Waltz, who is known for his work on Wolverine titles, in addition to penning many issues of IDW’s ongoing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic series. These two talented writers will no doubt create a classic story about Knull’s quest for power after being driven into the sun, and since Knull is unquestionably a villain and not a hero, it should certainly be interesting to read a comic with an evil main character who will definitely not conform to the moral standards of most Marvel protagonists. And since even being incinerated by the sun was not enough to stop Knull, we know how high the stakes in the series will be, as the King in Black really will stop at nothing to achieve his goals.

Although we have not yet been shown any panels from the book, we do know that Juanan Ramirez, who has previously worked on Venom comics, will be providing the interior artwork. And the cover for the first issue, which was drawn by Ryan Stegman, shows Knull laughing like a maniac while his Symbiote minions set out to do his bidding. Needless to say, Knull will cause untold amounts of chaos before the five-issue miniseries reaches its conclusion.

After his live-action debut in Venom: The Last Dance left audiences underwhelmed, it's exciting that the King in Black is finally getting some comic book spotlight to show us all what he's really capable of.
