Before the Marvel Cinematic Universe gives us Avengers: Doomsday, it will offer up VisionQuest - the third and final installment in the critically-acclaimed WandaVision Trilogy. Based on those early reviews, it very much looks like the upcoming Disney Plus series will take after its predecessors WandaVision and Agatha All Along, which can only be described as a wonderful thing.

The sequel series reintroduces us to Vision, who has taken to living a life off the grid in Scotland, no longer wishing to be weaponized by the government. After the Westview incident (as seen in WandaVision), he has his memories from his former life as an Avenger but none of the emotions attached to them. So, in order to reconnect with those memories, he spends most of his time in his own head, catching up with all of the MCU's other AIs. Yes, that includes James Spader's Ultron.

However, Vision gets a real chance at getting his old life back when one of his sons, Thomas Shepard (a.k.a. Tommy Maximoff), played by Ruaridh Mollica, surfaces in Scotland. Naturally, if you haven't been keeping up with the MCU, you might have questions. And here's how that all came to be.

*** This article contains SPOILERS from WandaVision and Agatha All Along. ***

Tommy Maximoff's return is down to his brother Billy

When Wanda Maximoff created the Hex that eneveloped Westview throughout WandaVision, she imagined a happy, idyllic, sitcom-like life with her beloved Vision and their two sons, Tommy and Billy Maximoff. Throughout the course of the show, the twin boys aged rapidly and, eventually, developed powers. Billy had magic like his mother while Tommy had super-speed, making him a speedster like his uncle Pietro. And just like that, Wanda had everything she ever wanted.

However, Wanda soon discovered that any fictional creation from the Hex (a.k.a. the Westview Vision and their children) could not exist outside of it. So, when she decided to take the Hex down, she had to say goodbye to Vison and their children. While the real Vision had been resurrected using Wanda's magic (and had hs memories restored thanks to the Westview Vision), the children were 100% magical. And therein lies the reason that they still exist.

Agatha All Along revealed that, when the Hex came down, Billy's magical soul managed to escape, hopping into the recently-deceased William Kaplan. Eventually coming into his powers after spending three years in Eastview, Billy returned to Westview to free Agatha Harkness - the witch that attempted to steal Wanda's magic - and walk the Witches' Road to find his brother, Tommy.

However, it turns out that Billy is very much like his mother, and he ended up conjuring the Witches' Road just like Wanda conjured her fictional version of Westview. Agatha figured it out pretty early on, but the viewers were kept in suspense right through to the end of the spinoff series, with the moment serving as a big twist that hghlighted Billy was nearly as powerful as the Scarlet Witch herself.

Although the Road didn't really exist, Billy was still able to help his brother. With the help of Agatha, he was able to locate Tommy's soul and place it into another body - before he and Agatha set out to find him. And, with that, the Maximoff family reunion isn't too far off, as Vision is about to locate Tommy in Scotland, seeking to help him from whatever trouble he has gotten into.

Ruaridh Mollica now makes his MCU debut as the reincarnated version of Tommy, who was indeed brought back to life by his magical brother. Like Billy resurfaced in William Kaplan's body, Tommy's official name will be that of Thomas Shepard. But we know that he is, was, and always will be Tommy Maximoff - the son of Vision and the Scarlet Witch, brother of Billy, and essentially the grandson of Ultron. Hey, anything is possible in the MCU!

In the Marvel Comics, Billy and Tommy are known as Wiccan and Speed. Just as we see in the MCU, one has the magical abilities of his mother and the other has the super-speed of his uncle Quicksilver. Together, they join the Young Avengers and become a force to be reckoned with in their own right. And, interestingly enough, Marvel Studios is reportedly still developing a Young Avengers project for the MCU.

One can assume that if the project - currently titled Champions comes to fruition - it would star Mollica's Tommy, and Joe Locke's Wiccan. Needless to say, we would all love to see that!

VisionQuest arrives on Dsney Plus on Tuesday, October 13.
