Marvel will introduce a new Spider-Man (but the original will pay the price)

If you feel like having one version of Peter Parker isn't enough, then Marvel has got you covered (but it may come at a great cost).

We all know Peter Parker — the genius yet lazy scientist who tends to arrive late everywhere because he is too busy saving the world. There's no denying that Spider-Man is one of the most popular characters ever created, so much so that we've seen many different versions of the hero take over the spotlight throughout the years. Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, Miguel O'Hara, and alternate-reality versions of Peter have all suited up to make the multiverse a better place. However, if you ever thought that we needed more versions of the wall-crawler, then we have good news as one more is about to join the roster.

The mainline The Amazing Spider-Man comic book saga recently began a new chapter that saw Peter leave the magical shenanigans aside and go back to basics as a friendly neighborhood hero. However, it seems this period of "normality" will be short-lived, as Peter Parker will be split in two, and one of them will be sent to space to live out many cosmic adventures. As for the other one? Well, he'll become everything he himself once swore to destroy.

A new Spider-Man will be introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man No.11 and Peter will become more violent

During the events of The Amazing Spider-Man (2025) No. 6, Marvel introduced a new villain called Hellgate, and he will quickly be positioned as a true force to be reckoned with. It seems Peter won't be able to come out victorious from his fight against this new foe at first, so he will need to "level up" to keep up the pace, as revealed by the synopsis of The Amazing Spider-Man (2025) No. 9:

"SPIDER-MAN'S SHOCKING DEFEAT! Battered and broken following his battle with HELLGATE, SPIDER-MAN needs to level up if he's going to survive the next round. Peter Parker is a different man following Hellgate's revelation."

But why is this important? Well, because it seems that whatever tactic Peter will resort to defeat Hellgate will split him in two. From The Amazing Spider-Man No. 11 onwards, there will be two versions of the wall-crawler: One of them will get a new cosmic suit and go to space, while the other one remains on Earth protecting the neighborhood with... very unorthodox tactics. The Peter we know and love will stop pulling his punches and become more violent than we've ever seen him before.

"Following Spider-Man’s shocking showdown with new supervillain Hellgate in Amazing Spider-Man No. 8, something strange has happened to Peter! Now, there are two Spider-Men, but which is Peter Parker?! BOTH?"

Comic book readers will follow these two versions of Spider-Man, with Pepe Larraz (who worked on the art for the first five issues of the saga) being behind the illustrations of the cosmic hero, and John Romita Jr. in charge of bringing the street-level adventures to life. An official art teasing this upcoming storyline also unveiled that the symbiotes will have a role to play (very likely endangering the intergalactic version of Peter). Besides, we'll be introduced to brand-new characters from across the galaxy as well:

"A tale of two Spider-Men…One Spider-Man swings around New York City meting out justice in an unfriendly matter. Another Spider-Man is found in a distant solar system running with strange companions, including a stranger named SYMBIE making his first appearance! The next major chapter in Spider-Man’s life begins here!"

But before we get to this unique chapter in Peter's life, we still have to watch him face Hellgate and figure out just who the supervillain really is. On the bright side, it won't be long before this new comic book arc kicks things off.

The Amazing Spider-Man (2025) No. 7 will be released on July 02, 2025.
