Kept you waiting, bub? After a long wait, we finally have more information about the release window of Marvel's Wolverine, and it comes from PlayStation itself. The game's description on the official PS Store page was updated to reveal that players will step into Logan's shoes in the third quarter of 2026, which would mean sometime between July and September of this year:
"Developed in collaboration with Marvel Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment, Marvel's Wolverine arrives on PlayStation 5 consoles in the third quarter of 2026."
The information seems to have leaked ahead of time, as the description was quickly updated and the release date changed back to Fall 2026. However, the unintended slip-up could be seen as an indication that Marvel and developer Insomniac Games are gearing up for a new, big reveal. Incidentally, a new gaming event is just around the corner.
On Feb. 12, 2026, PlayStation will host a State of Play broadcast lasting over an hour and focusing on third-party titles, as well as "the latest from teams at PlayStation Studios". That means first-party games like Marvel's Wolverine are likely to steal the show. Furthermore, fans have discovered that a new video was uploaded to the official Marvel's Wolverine playlist on PlayStation's YouTube channel, but it is currently private.

All signs indicate that developer Insomniac Games might showcase more of its upcoming title during the State of Play broadcast, while also giving us an update on its release window (though this update leaked ahead of time on the PS Store). It's also important to remember that PlayStation has a strong track record of releasing games in either August or September, so it seems all the more likely that Marvel's Wolverine will hit shelves between those months.
PlayStation-exclusive title Lost Soul Aside was published on Aug. 29, 2025. Astro Bot was released on Sept. 6, 2024, while Concord graced consoles on Aug. 23, 2024 (though Sony would really like to forget about that one). Furthermore, The Last of Us Part I was released on Sept. 2, 2022, and 2021 gave us Ghost of Tsushima: Legends in September as well. The list of examples goes on, further cementing the idea that the third quarter of 2026 would be an ideal release window for Marvel's Wolverine.

Another major factor to consider is the impending arrival of GTA VI. Currently, Rockstar aims to release its upcoming title on November 19, 2026, and every major video game studio is planning around that date to avoid any direct competition. With that in mind, it would be smart for Insomniac to get ahead of the game (quite literally) and make sure Marvel's Wolverine hits shelves as early as possible.
While an announcement seems imminent, it's also important to remember that Insomniac stated we wouldn't learn more about Marvel's Wolverine until Spring 2026, so there's a very high chance the game is missing from the State of Play altogether. Chances are that PlayStation's next first-party title, Saros, gets all the spotlight, especially since it is set to release on April 30, 2026, which is just around the corner. But with a bit of luck, everyone's favorite mutant gets to steal the spotlight soon, and more gameplay reveals will come our way in the following days.
Marvel's Wolverine will release in Fall 2026.
